There is something called the American Disability Act which requires businesses to be wheelchair and handicapp accessable. They can get fined for not being in compliance.

generally as long as they do no renovations they can get away with out the accessibility updates however if they do any repairs or renovations on the area they must be brought up to compliance and most places in the US will bring them selves into compliance just to not get complained about because of non-compliance even if they are not required to

Make sure you plan it on the channel for everyone to see. I can give you advice on that area. Any area you choose you will have viewers who either live there or go yearly for vacation. My son is a congenital quadruple amputee which means he was born missing parts of all his limbs. The Americans with Disabilities Act has made it so that he can be independent. He can go anywhere in his wheelchair without worrying about curbs and dropping off of them. Since he has no hands he can open most doors in many buildings by pushing a button. There are elevators so that he doesn’t have to drag himself up the stairs. He drives an adapted van and is able to find parking with space to get his wheelchair in and out of his van. (Don’t ever park in the hashtag areas around handicapped parking. It keeps people like him from getting in and out of their vehicles.) There are many other ways that help with his independence.

I'm glad that your son had found so much benefit in this movement. As someone who isn't physically disabled, I didn't notice just how prevalent this law affects public spaces in the US until I visited an older city and my boyfriend and I kept spotting non-ADA compliant things in places that should be usable by ALL people (like public transportation). Even something as simple as a gap being too wide to easily transport something on smaller wheels, ugh. The ADA allows for access to buildings by businesses too, helping small businesses transport goods and provide their services.

When you have a family of 5-8 or more (especially growing teenagers on the football team), a family-size box of cereal can go super fast! Specifically, if they are being eaten for a snack at any time of the day or night, in addition to breakfast. A single person would shop according to their consumption needs, which would be less. You can turn right on Red where there is NOT a sign that specifically, states 'NO TURN ON RED'. However, whether it is a Stop sign or a RED light, you must always come to a full STOP first, and look both ways for oncoming traffic before turning right. If you desire less or no ice, you should specify your request when ordering your drinks (including your water). Also, you can request your ice on the side (in a separate glass), and add the amount you want.

In the US we do have larger sizes of certain types of products. The reason for this is that we prefer to only shop about once a week. Some people if they are more rural will only shop once or twice a month. We have storage pantries and will put dry goods in air tight containers, and many family size products are resealble. With produce people buy apples, and oranges in large bags because they have bigger families. We also have singles, so you can buy 1 or more. Sodas come in big packs because people store them, and then put some in the fridge. A lot of people also have separate freezers that dont defrost automatically so they can store frozen products and meats that they can buy in larger quantities for less money. Many of us have been taught to be prepared for emergencies. We have violent unpredictable weather. We could have power outages, or undrivable conditions. Or even hurricanes, or earthquakes, tornadoes. Its alway best to have some extra supplies on hand if you dont live near stores.

If they had to walk 20 minutes in San Francisco, it probably was not hot. San Francisco is known for having cool temperatures the entire year due to its geography. And God NO you can't U-Turn just anywhere. It has to be clearly marked. It's not the size of the roads that allow a U-Turn it's the city. Does the city think it's safe? Yes, No. It's a safety issue. Texan in London currently and my mind has been blown by some of the differences. 1. It doesn’t seem more than 20% of places are handicapped accessible. Taxis are though. It seems like a newer law where the taxis have to be able to fit a whole wheelchair. Sidewalks are very uneven. Elevators are hard to come by. As you walk everywhere, you don’t see benches to sit on. Do British people never need to rest or tie their shoes or find something in their bag? The tube stations seem to all have stairs. Even if there’s an escalator, once you ride it down, you have to go back up stairs to exit. 2. I’m dying without ice. Finally I started ordering an entire ice bucket from room service. I load it in my Stanley and try to conserve it.

Most states allow you to make a right hand turn on a red light, AFTER STOPPING FIRST. Keep in mind, we drive on the right side of the road, here. So if you need to make a right hand turn, and the light is red…get into the right lane, stop and check for cross traffic. If there is no cross traffic, you can proceed to take a right hand turn. Most people don’t know this, but many states also allow you to make a left hand turn on red, IF you stop first to check for cross traffic and are turning onto a one-way road. Meaning, the cross road is a one-way road. You must get into the left lane, stop, check traffic…if all clear, then proceed to turn left…but you must turn into the far left lane of a one way road, ONLY, before changing lanes.

I live outside of Los Angeles, you have to be pushier and hit the gas pedal harder without running into the person ahead of you. @@claregale9011 Many parts of the US have buildings that are hundreds of years older than the law requiring access accommodations. The way the US has addressed that is to require buildings to provide access accommodations when renovating, if at all possible. For example, I went to a university that was founded in the early 1800's, and several of the classroom buildings dated to that original founding. As the university renovated them, they had to file plans to make them accessible, or request an exemption if they could not be made accessible. For most buildings, they could find a way to make them at least partially accessible (though not always fully), and so if a class was scheduled in a part of a building that wasn't accessible, and a student or staff member needed accommodations for that class, they could file a form to have the class moved to an accessible room. And accommodations were not always full-on elevators or such like you're thinking. They did many interesting things like using mini-lifts to overcome stairs that couldn't accommodate a ramp in buildings that couldn't accommodate a full-access elevator, digging to ground level and installing new level entrances in what was previously a basement, and other "out of the box" thinking that allowed very old building to become accessible. Not necessarily cheap, but despite what is being spouted at the RNC right now, including people makes us stronger. Just because your legs or back or whatever don't work in a "standard" way doesn't mean your mind is dull, and universities should absolutely provide access to everyone who is ready, willing, and able to learn, grow, and better society!

If you live in a city, in a small apartment, like in NYC, and you use mostly public transit or walk to get around, you may buy food for only a couple days at a time. If you live in a house, you will most often buy food for a whole week. Many people have a big refrigerator/freezer combination. A lot of people also have an extra freezer or maybe even a second refrigerator in their basement or garage to store food. People like to buy when certain items are on sale or they buy certain items in bulk to save money. So extra food storage areas in your home allows you to save money and save driving trips to the grocery store. Many folks invest in pantry storage containers to keep all their food very organized. Since we tend to spend more time at work and in our cars, we just want to come home and be able to quickly put dinner together so we can relax in front of our wide screen tv’s with 450 channel options and 5-10 streaming services. LOL. I’m kidding, sort of, but not really. We don’t all subscribe to all that…but we all can if we want to.

One thing that definitely contributes to why packaging of items are generally bigger is that we just have more room in out refrigerators, pantries and cabinets to store things and thus make fewer trips to the stores. Most of us drive cars to the supermarkets and therefore it is easier to transport those items from the shops to our houses so we can buy more per visit. Its quite evident that our consumer cultures have developed in their own unique ways because of some big differences in our two countries. Ours around covering distances and space. Hence, the cars, drive through (everything), big roads, big cars and even the fast food. I remember my great grandfather talking about traveling around Texas back in the 20's and 30's and how he had to carry a lot of his own food because there weren't always reliable places to get food when you were far from home. I can easily see how this could lead to many people opening small restaurants to offer food to travelers and those restaurants later become fast food chains and later with the proliferation of cars and car culture, the drive through's and other conveniences built around cars. Honestly the development and evolution our two cultures all makes sense given our unique circumstances.

I have seen this question in many reaction videos about Americans and the size of their food packs in stores. Americans buy foods that can be stored in bulk. For example, we buy the giant pack of breakfast cereal, but when we get it home, we open it and put it in containers that keep it from getting stale quickly. We buy many foods in bulk. This is why you see the large pantries in American homes. We also store foods in airtight bags in our basements or garages.

Editing as I continue through the video: As someone from the US, I’d say we tend to keep things longer (or at least my family does). My cereal lasts 2 maybe 3 months (Fruit going bad is why they tend to be in smaller containers. Why would you buy enough raspberries for 2 months if it’s going to go bad the same month) Also on driving, (different states may have different laws, my state may not match the experience of other states) we have a lot of case-specific rules. You can (if you want, it’s not mandatory but people behind you may be annoyed) turn on red BUT the road must be relatively clear (no cars being cut off, no pedestrians waiting to cross) and you can only turn right. No left turns on red. U-turns are (I believe) only allowed in areas where it is marked. I have never seen a U-turn on the freeway, I’ve always been told “keep going if you miss your exit” but maybe it’s state dependent? We have a lot of entitled drivers, sorry. Public transport sucks because (I may be misinformed) a car company (or multiple) bought up a lot of public transportation companies and then drove them into the ground to sell more cars. I’d say a lot of people are in favor of public transport, but we have a lot of issues and public transport is fairly low down on our priorities. I also quickly looked it up, and the others reason were lobbying against it and the fact that people look(ed) at public transportation as the “poor man’s transportation” and considering that we prioritize hiding the issue of homelessness over fixing homelessness, I’d say the answer makes complete sense

The general rule for right turns , right turn on Red after stop when clear, unless a sign says no turn on red, u- turns are generally allowed at intersections in the left turn lane on green, unless a sign signifies otherwise, it is never legal to just whip a uie in the middle of the road

We have designated u turn lanes lol. We also are allowed to u turn from the left turn lane when we get the green arrow signifying to go, UNLESS there is a sign saying they aren’t allowed. There are SOME smaller 2-4 lane highways that have u turn accessibility but on major highways if you miss an exit you’re def gonna have to get off the next exit and get back on the highway. And yes the vast majority of intersections allow you to turn right when the lights red(nothing else that’s not a right turn) unless there’s a sign saying you “no turn on red”.

In many of the freeways, there is a u-turn lane. If you accidentally pass up your exit, you can go to the next exit, stay in the left lane and there will be a dedicated u-turn lane.

In most states, you can make u turns from the left lane or turn on red after stopping from the right lane if there isn't a sign that says you can't. On interstates, you must exit and take the ramp for the opposite direction if you want to turn around.

I love reading the comments to your videos, I learn so much about my own country that way. As to turns on red lights, here in my (Western) state, you ca turn left on red if your the first car in the left turn lane. You pull into the intersection and when the light turns red, you have the right-of-way to make a left turn before any of the other cars who have the green light.

11:30 we make space everywhere so you can U turn, lanes dedicated for the U turn everywhere on every type of road. In Texas we have a u turn lane for freeways, just take the next exit and at the next light and underpass there will be a lane with no light going underneath the freeway so you can turn around and go back on the freeway going the other direction.

Right turn on red is just like a stop sign. You stop and look before you go. You can also left turn on red onto a one way going the same direction.
