I wish this video was out sooner! I did this exact repair on my L400 rad and it has been holding strong. Thank you

Many thanks for your helpful films. In my country, L400 is an exotic car. I am very happy that you exist, all the best to you and your family. Walter from Austria

Just fixed mine exactly the same way! Couldn`t believe this video popped up a few days later. Many thanks for showing how to save the rad. I have also added a piece of angle aluminium mounted to the top two rad mount points to protect the fitting as most of the breaks are happening when guys are working on the motor and place something heavy on top of the rad, in my case doing a battery swap and i knocked the hose to rad connector.

Ive done this too, exactly the same with jbweld and a brass fitting. i had it on for months while I waited for a radiator from China. I replaced it because my plastic was brittle though, hence why my nipple broke.

Definetely a weak spot on the Delicas! Mine had a similar repair on it when i got it, eventually that failed and broke a large hole into the whole area so I have a new radiator now. But watching this video makes me think of making some sort of shroud or guard that i can protect that joint when doing other work, i'm always afraid of a dropped tool or other accident snapping it again.

A guard wouldn't be a bad idea. They honestly break just from vibration over time as well though. This one was good when I hopped into the vehicle outside the shop and let go as I was pulling it onto the lift.

Just so you know, I'm about to buy a Mitsubishi Delica D5, so these tips are great. I've looked but cant find a vid on when you got your D5

Don't worry, it's not your search skills... it's been on my list but I wanted to drive it for a while to formulate a true opinion on it. Then got kinda busy and it fell to the way side. I guess I probably should get D5 intro vid done.

@@projectaddiction cool, i bid $8k on a 2013 4WD, 2.4L with 60k KM's on the clock the other day, i was blasted out of the bidding as it sold for almost 12K, more than i wanted to pay. Still searching.

Love your work mate. I have a question for a L400 Delica. I want to install a transmission temp sensor on a 2005 V6 Delica Auto. I've heard the hot line coming from the transmission to the radiator is the best place to do so. Using brass bard fittings/ t piece and an outlet at the top for the aftermarket sensor to screw into. I was watching your transmission service recently and you explained the fluid running from transmission hose to the radiator and back again to the transmission. I'd like to know which hose is the "hot hose" to tap into please. 🤔 😊

Thank @benmurray5736! In that video we pulled the line which was returning from the cooler back to the transmission, or the cold line. To read precooler temps you will want to pull the from the lower line. In saying that I've seen the lines get mixed up when somebody swaps the rad. It doesn't hurt anything it just flows through the cooler in reverse. To confirm you can always pull the line and see which side the fluid comes from. It should be coming from the hard line. Once you've confirmed tap into the side that is feeding to the cooler, not coming back from it.

@projectaddiction thanks very much for taking the time to reply back. I really enjoy watching your videos on the Delica. I'll get my hands dirty and find the correct line. Again I appreciate your time and look forward to more of your videos. Hopefully you do one on this topic soon! 😉
