Such a beautiful version of Beauty and the Beast. Filmed on a shoestring budget, post-war. Exceptionally dreamlike, poetic, atmospheric. I first saw this as a teenager. I will never forget the arms holding the torches, and the sequence where Belle “floats” down the hallway, among others. Incredible viewing experience!!!! Thank you for posting. ❤️

Thank you for watching. I read Cocteau's dairy about it in th 80s and still remember how resourceful they were just after the war. It shows what you can do!

Thank you a million times for posting this!!! Stunningly beautiful, poetic and atmospheric, all filmed post/war with incredible “special effects” which were all hand-made (e.g. the arms holding the torches and Belle floating down a hallway with curtains billowing in her wake). Music was haunting. I was a teenager when I first saw it, have seen nothing comparable since. Merry Christmas to you.❤

This movie is a "Gift". I've loved this movie since I was a little girl, I didn't even care that it was all subtitles. I first saw it on channel 13 PBS.I was fascinated with the "Dreamy" quality of the cinematography. This is by far the best version of this Fairy Tale. I love the arms in the hallway , holding the torches. This is magic for us Adult Romantics. I also recommend the movie "Donkey Skin" starring Catherine Deneuve, and Jean Marais, directed by Jacques Demy. Merry Christmas Aylene ! Happiness, and Health for the New Year ! Cindy
