La Habra -- Commercial (WM)

As of November 1, 2015, Waste Management is no longer the City of La Habra's service provider. Thanks to all the drivers and staff that kept La Habra clean for over 30 years
Waste Management services the businesses and other commercial stops in the city of La Habra six days a week. Here are some of the garbage trucks used there:
(0:00) - 265091: This is a very unique truck. Though it may seem like the average Autocar ACX Amrep HX-450 FEL combo, there are some interesting parts to it. The first thing is the giant gap between the tag axle and the rest of the wheels. Another cool thing is that this truck has a fold up door, which leads me to the next interesting part. This truck's number (265) is typically an indicator for residential trucks. These all make it a fun truck to film. Behind the wheel of this truck is Arturo Cortes, a very professional, clean, and safe driver.
(2:38) - 211774: As we were looking for residential trucks in La Habra, I saw this truck waiting at a light. He turned into a nursing home which had several Dumpsters for collection. The driver, Jesus Arce (37 years with WM), told us this truck is only four months old! He really likes the truck; said it's like driving the Cadillac of garbage trucks.
(6:38) - 412647: Here is a quick drive by of one of the roll offs that shuttles containers back and forth from La Habra to the transfer station.
(6:43) - 265091: Here is another clip of Arturo from March. Seen here collecting a compactor on a Saturday morning.
(8:26) - 264111: Here is my favorite truck that works in La Habra. The driver, Alfredo (10 years with WM), does the organics/food waste route in the city on Saturdays. He has six stops before he finishes the route and heads off to the transfer station. I really enjoyed talking to him. He works out of the Irvine hauling site unlike the rest of the drivers, who are out of Santa Ana. His truck has a Volvo badge on the grille, even though it is a first generation Autocar. Alfredo works in Laguna Beach on Tuesdays and Fridays during the week in an ASL, 104506, which is the dual axle Peterbilt 320/Amrep and other cities around Orange County on the other days.

Ooooooooooooo that 320 was nice! Gave me all kinds of warm fuzzies lol. It looks great from that angle, and better that you caught the side where the bus style mirrors look less stupid. Would even go as far as to call the corner window an aesthetic improvement, most certainly a practical one. That truck goes to show how Southern California has the best of what Waste Management has to offer. Great job on the shots of the WXLL. Prudent placement of the gripper controls where you can actually see them open and close instead of mounting them by the arm & fork controls or in the cab.

georgewuzheer Haha! Thanks George. The new Pete cab has been growing on me lately. Still anticipating west coast mirrors on the new cab like what we heard on Flickr. I think my favorite angle is from the front. Filmed another one of these new Petes last week, so you'll eventually see my favorite angle of these trucks :P The WXLL was so much fun. Wonderful video! Love that ACX Amrep at first! Sounded to quite tho! Still love hearing the metal clanking around haha. Wow, them 320 Amreps are as common as Consolidated Disposal's ACX McNeilus's FL's. Hahah That WXLL Wittke was a beast! Love how WM custom made the grippers using Amrep grippers! I may not like WM in NM really anymore, but there CA operations never fail to amuse me! Great video, Aaron!

Wow, nice video! Really like all the trucks! That Autocar Amrep is nice! Pretty interesting gap in between the axle! Sounds nice too! That 320 is nice! Looks great and sounds nice!! Wisconsin Sirens & Signals one is if air brake is not engaged and truck accidentally rolls back (warning alarm ) and reverse alarm is when truck is backing

Awesome Video! Loved all the trucks! The last one was my favorite! Amrep Grippers huh? Was that truck used for residential as well? The right side door was open so I thought it was used for residential in the past. Do the trucks from our yard go out to La Habra? Or is this there a seperate yard out in la habra? DisposalManagement haha thanks for the compliment :-) And you're absolutely right about something rather than nothing. I'm glad I decided to film in La Habra when I did. Finding out they sold the contract was a surprise to me and I didn't have a chance to film them one last time before CR&R took over.

+WMmaster626 no problem man! The only difference I saw was the signs of the trucks (since you know they bought some on WM's trucks) and their own trucks. Personally, I feel CR&R is great, but they send out a little bit of trucks for our city. I remember Waste Management sent out at least 3 recycling and 3 yard waste (or more, depending on the day) and CR&R only sends out about 2 of each. As a matter of fact, one of their recycling truck broke down this week and the recycling on my street got picked up at around 6:30pm because they didn't even have a spare truck that could come out and take over.

I'm really surprised to hear a company as big as WM being forced out of a city. Around here where I live in SE TX, they practically have a stranglehold on our area. Why did they get run out of town?

They weren't forced out. I've talked to multiple operations directors and I guess the city wasn't making enough revenue for them so they sold the contract. I've heard talk that they may have struck a landfill disposal deal with CR&R since there's more money in the landfilling business than collection. Happen to know the local WM yard that services your area?

The main office for WM in Montgomery County Texas is Conroe, Texas. The facility is right off of loop 336, a loop highway which goes around Conroe area. The landfill where they dump their loads is about ten minutes away from our house here in the Woodlands. It's near a watershed which keeps the water from Lake Woodlands at bay during heavy rains. I'm sorry to hear about the city losing the contract that way.. I'm sure WM brought alot of jobs to the area.

***** It's been shit impossible to keep jobs around here in The Greater Houston area and most of them are thanks to foreign invaders banking on Clinton and Obumma cash while our energy and petro industries take a major hit along with our based retail places. Believe me when I tell you.. nobody is safe until we put our foot down and say this is our contracts and our soil. Even if we have to open our own businesses to keep it here, we will.

You can also look on indeed put you would have to apply online then you'll get a call if you don't have a CDL if you get hired youll work the yard if you do have a CDL youll go through training about the company then the trucks but youll start on the bottom running trucks to other yards or swapping trucks. Its a very good company they take care of there workers awesome benefits and really good pay at 17.22 when you have a 90% on your route its 2 dollar raise.

I really enjoyed that Wittke Autocar at the end! We have a couple trucks that are identical to it here in Napa, but they only run on commercial. Did CR&R keep that truck after WM got forced out of the city? Keep up the good work!
