cable car untill 2400m, hike to Refuge du Promontoire. Next day left the hut at 4am, started to climb at 5, summit 12:50. 16:50 to Refuge de l'Aigle.

Hi Denise, we discovered that area last summer for the first time. It's such a nice place! I will certainly come back :) La Meije is beautiful.

Is there another name for the south face route that you took? I did the classic many years ago before the rockfall but would love to climb the south face.
