What's the light grey (protective edges) addition to the angle bars? You don't mention these were not on the angle bars you used to take off the retainers (I'm putting on Tudor's brass gold ones so must be careful not to scratch them)?

Protective tape . You can use any protection . Felt,leather, etc. Thinner the better. Same setup for removing the holders.
