La Piovra is the soundtrack album for the Italian television series La Piovra. Music composed by Ennio Morricone. The album is a collection of music featured in the second series through the fifth series.
Divine!!! As a child in the 80s I saw for the first time, this will never be forgotten. Always looking forward to the continuation of the series. Corrado Cotani, the toughest policeman, one against the whole Cosa Nostra, that's cool!
Sometimes the tunes written for films are so good that they take on a life of their own. This is exactly what can be said about the music of Ennio Morricone, the Italian composer who wrote the immortal melodies for the films The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, The Professional, and The Hateful Eight.
During his creative career, Ennio Morricone has created music for more than 400 films and TV series.
La Piovra (OST Octopus)
The series "Octopus" (1984) about the struggle of Italian police officers in the person of Commissioner Corrado Cattani (Michele Placido) with the Sicilian mafia won the hearts of viewers around the world, including in the USSR.
Michele Placido was born on May 19, 1946 in the town of Ascoli Satriano in the Italian region of Apulia. After serving in the army, Placido worked for the police in Rome. Inspired by the theater, he entered the Academy of Dramatic Art. In 1969 he played his first role on stage.
He gained worldwide fame after the role of Commissioner Corrado Cattani in the television series The Octopus, where he played for four seasons. The series "Octopus" was very popular in the USSR. It is noteworthy that at the same time as filming in the TV series The Octopus, Michele Placido played a role in the film Communication Through a Pizzeria, the antipode of Commissioner Cattani, a hired mafia killer.

Beautiful Italy. Handsome Italian gentleman, Michele Placido, my hero Commissioner Corrado Cattani. La Piovra is a masterpiece, Michele Placido is unforgettable.

Well imo it would have been a masterpiece if it had ended around the 3rd or 4th season. It didn't get bad after that. But there was a falling off in quality.

Well, I spoke in error. Mu actual review. My overall rasting is 9/10. The first five seasons are superb. Each one gets 10/10 from me. Season 6 falls down a little for me through some cliches and sentimentality. Still 8/10. Season 7 improves, but still not up to the quality of the first five. 9/10. Season 8, which goes back to an earlier time period is almost like a diffrent series, and pushes it back up to 10. Season 9 gets a 9, and the final season rounds it off with an 8. Great ending, and a fitting climax for one of the series great villains ie Tano Cariddi as played by Remo Girone. But lets not forget also Bruno Cremer as Antonio Espinosa, and of course Michele Pacido as Inspector CaTtani,

Великий Эннио Морриконе, неповторимый Микеле Плачидо, прекрасно написанный и срежиссированный сериал! Как же мы любили его в СССР! Когда комиссара Каттани "убили", тысячи разгневанных и расстроенных зрителей писали письма на советское телевидение.

Помню мальчишкой после школы бежали,что бы успеть посмотреть Спрут,жалко мне то время,родители тогда живы и никаких забот,а сейчас спустя много лет вспоминая то время очень грустно и музыка из Спрута заставляет хоть мысленно вернуться в детство...
