I want to thank you for making such a detailed review video. I'm in process of looking for a new bag, being I finally ditched my ILBE for something that doesn't scream former military. As we speak, I have 15 on my list, where I'm comparing size, features, quality, orginaztional abilities and price. I was pretty much sold on the bag that looks very simular to this one, only smaller until I watched your video. LAPG ought to give you a commission.

Thank you for the kind words. I had purchased an ILBE, however due to all the straps I was not a fan. Plus I was never in the military so it felt kind of weird. The Atlas 72 is definitely a nice pack if you are needing something to hold a similar amount of stuff. LAPG actually contacted me after seeing this video and asked me if they had any other products I would like to try out for review. I posted a couple videos on those and still have the Atlas pants to review (they are great). I have decided not to accept direct payment for reviews, however I do use Amazon affiliate links which actually provide a nice commission.

The reason for the double zippers on that inside pocket (top and bottom) is that pocket is a "catch all" pocket for lots of little things, so if your slightly opening the bag and want to get into that pocket you use the top zipper. BUT if you open the back fully and the front flap is now upside down if you use the top zipper all your stuff will fall out, so you then use the bottom zipper.

Can you tuck the waist pad into the back if you don’t want to use them like how the 511 tactical rush72 backpack are?

Corrections: The pack volume is : 4560 cu. in. not 5400. Additionally: the fabric is 900D not 800D If you believe there are any other items that require correction please comment below.

Thank you for being so detailed in this review! That neck yoke looks tortuous; and where the sternum belt is stationed, there won't be many women wanting to buy this bag. Thanks again for your overview!

Thanks for a very thorough review. I imagine that if the laser cut MOLLE was replaced with traditional stuff it would weigh slightly more and cost another $50. The pack is pretty similar to the RUSH 72, probably the low price vs the 511 pack are the laser cut MOLLE. It looks like a lot of pack for $75! My only reservation is that it seems like a pretty big pack for the suspension- pretty low tech and perfunctory for a 4500+ CI bag. Still, for the price I may give it a shot!

Awesome review. You brought up an issue that others have mentioned. That being, the treads coming loose. For many th a t could be a problem and lead to future failures. One person mentioned putting on (clear) nail polish or nail hardener. I use nail hardener, and works great. May add years of life to the item, depending how much use and abuse you give it.

Great informative video. Does it have a hook or something to hold the bladder up to keep it from sliding down?

I’m sure it’s already been mentioned but the u shape for the shoulder straps is suppose to make it more comfortable and so you can carry heavier weight. It being uncomfortable is probably from wrong wear of the waist straps. Other than that good video

Hey what’s up man just seen this video wondering if this is a good bag to take to work/get home bag
@thenextarcher

Honestly, for a get home bag I would suggest something small and less tactical looking. The 5.11 tactical covrt18 or "LA POLICE GEAR COMMUTER & SCHOOL BACKPACK" might be better packs for that.

What is the milometer on the waist band clips and I'm new to this and don't understand how the hydration system works. From what I do understand (I think) is you buy a separate bladder that attaches between your back and the backpack and you can run a tube from that but what are the holes for in the top of the backpack for the hydration system?
@darkaegis1
@darkaegis1 4 жыл бұрын
That hydration bladder would go inside the bag.

+thenextarcher Very good review, thanks for being the first truly in depth review that shows all the features of the backpack, most talk about it and show the MOLLE panel, and the official LAPG video uses sped up footage with a dumb soundtrack. You actually show the features and explain them as well as getting into the quality, so good job! Thanks for hooking me up with those elastic additions. I see that you do what I do as far as making extensive use of compression sacks. What kind do you mostly use? I feel dumb about the 5.11 Rush 72 for 200 now that I see a virtually identical backpack for $75. I'm gonna get that now, along with the chest rig (I've seen the chest rig and it seems useful). If I may suggest, you can get shotgun and rifle scabbards that MOLLE onto your gear and have MOLLE all the way around. I often MOLLE those onto each side of a ruck. You could MOLLE them onto the sides of your backpack and have the big side pockets to use, as well as convenient storage for your rifles, shotguns, ax, etc.......... Oh, and Ranger fold your extra clothing, you'll have a lot more room. As to your saw being a bit long, the Cheaper Than Dirt catalog (and probably the sporting goods sections of Walmart and similar places) has a 7 inch folding camp saw made by Ultimate Survival Technologies for about $20. It has a black, oxide coating and is just as good as Silky IMO. It's what I use and have used the same one for more than 10 years and it hasn't let me down. I also carry a couple of those commando wire saws (not the cheapo, $2 kind, I get mine in the Coleman's Military Surplus catalog for 9 for a 2 pack I think. Very useful, long lasting, and pack nice and flat). Tactical bungee cords are good as well

Hey man. Good review. I just bought this bag and transferred it into my new B.O.B.. I use one of the OpMod optics planet backpacks for my edc bag as of right now. I've been looking into the 24 hour bag instead. How do you like the 24 hour bag as something to carry every day?
@thenextarcher
@thenextarcher 7 жыл бұрын
Honestly these backpacks are way to "tactical" than i would like for an everyday carry bag as I work in an office environment. A good bag that has some "tactical" features but is more office/school friendly I really liked the 5.11 COVRT 18. Its alittle pricey but I used the pack the entire time I was in college and it worked out great.

Do you think it's too big? Physically, I"m 5'5 at 135lbs and it's really big on me. I can easily pack more than 72 hours worth of clothing and gear into this bag. Too bad so very few bags have that exterior shove-it compartment.

Hi How does it fit on you? Is it comfortable for long hikes? I’m 5’6 and thinking to buy this bag.
@malabou75
@malabou75 4 жыл бұрын
@@tomasbettoni , the bag is quite wide and long. Uses very heavy duty material so the bag itself is not light. However, it's comfortable for me even in extremely hot & humid weather. If you prefer a very light bag, this may not be a good choice but I like that it's super durable.

It has been holding up well. I would say the one flaw iv noticed is the molle. If you have something like a carabiner attached it starts to show wear after alittle bit of use. Not close to failure but does not seem as durable as traditional molle.

Those first pockets with the velcro straps are for your extra AR magazines. Remember it is a tactical bag, the idea is you would have a tactical gun as well.

He obviously has it set up for a camping/BOB role as he showed with his sleeping equipment. Having a hatchet if you plan on staying overnight is an extremely good idea since it enables you to make fires far easier (assuming it's not an emergency situation and fires are allowed). For general hiking or backpacking, yea you wouldn't want it but this bag is also obviously variable for emergencies as well.
