There had to be some other reason she picked this particular Hotel to stay at. Had to..

I could see her being interested in the creepy and paranormal side of its history and choosing to stay there because of that. The number of allusions/synchronicities in her case is so strange to me. It's been awhile since I've looked into this, but there's some crazy stuff that leads me to believe she also may have known she was coming to something.

the cecil was actually split into two hotels- hotel cecil and stay on main. elisa was staying at stay on main which was marketed as more of a boutique hotel or a fun, lively hostel targeted at younger travellers, and was possibly put into place to sort of mask the hotel’s dark history and to therefore get more guests staying there. if you read elisa’s tumblr she says on the post about arriving in LA that there was a “monstrosity of a building” next to the place she was staying, and by that i believe she means the cecil. so i think she thought stay on main and hotel cecil were two different buildings as they were marketed as two different hotels. also on her blog she said that one of her favourite colour combinations was orange and blue, and those were the colours that stay on main was decorated in.
