What a wonderful interview. This dignified couple are amazing human beings. Listening to Ato Mammo Affeta and his wife Woizero Hiwet Tesfay's life story is quite enlightening and instructive. Although this interview is about the biographical book written by Mr. Mammo, it is also a love of story of these two remarkable people. In a larger sense. it is also a history of Ethiopians and Eritreans. He, an Ethiopian from Oromo region and a soldier, who went to Eritrea as an Ethiopian soldier and his wife, an Eritrean from Akle Guzai region who joined the struggle for independence of Eritrea. He was captured by EPLF fighters after that epic battle in Afabet and became a prisoner, and she was an Eritrean resistance fighter on the other side. He subsequently joined the Eritrean struggle for independence. And they met and fell in love. Both spent their tender years of childhood on the opposite side of the war, and yet their true love enabled them to connect and get married in liberated Eritrea during the national liberation struggle. As the story unfolds, there are many dimensions to this amazing narrative. Woizero Hiwet Tesfay is a heroic Eritrean woman in her own right, and our precious and valiant sister, daughter and mother of our beloved Eritrea. I salute and respect her service to the motherland, as well as her resoluteness and courage to marry an Ethiopian (not to mention once an adversary) for love and follow him to live in Ethiopia far away from her family and Eritrea. Now, they have 4 lovely children and a loving family relationship. It broke my heart to see her weeping and ruefully talk about being away from her natal family and the country she fought for. After all, she also did not have a chance to reconnect for long with her parents, siblings and her community after Eritrean independence. I could feel her pain and see it some in her beautiful face, as most of us Eritreans have been dislocated and lived in other lands due to our historical condition. Ajockhi Hafetey, you are a hero and you have a worthwhile husband. I want to let her know, this writer also has lived in the US far away from the homeland. But Eritrea is in all of our hearts and minds. And, as mother who lived in Addis used to say, ‘someday, we will all return’. I wish, this wonderful couple would consider spending some of their time living back and forth in both countries---as both of them belong to the two nations. It is a moving and beautiful story of human resilience, love, and destiny. The hardship, suffering and triumphs of this distinguished and lovely couple is very inspiring, and educative. I wish a happy and long life. I wish the interviewer delved more into Woizero Hiwet’s life. Finally, I would like to buy and read the book.
You don't have to cry. YOU already did You're had to do and as an Eritrean, I appreciate what you did for our freedom.

Wow congratulations you guys amazing lovely family proud of you guys
I like their stories very interesting because of their backgrounds they came from opposing sides she is freedom fighter and he’s an enemies soldier. He was captured by the fighters and he switched sides ( loyalty) to make things even sweeter to their story he married one the fighters. I hope you conducted another more interview including their families and his mom also the progress children are they bilingual.

My take was the wife" s Story should be included. I have not read the book, but I wonder why theyjust pass it like non exestance.. It is interesting Story. What I can guess is he is just self centered narcissistic person or she is Eritrean fighter from Tegray patents. I could be wrong.
