I found it perfect for thick gravel with lots of sharp edged small rocks like in some parts of the Pyrenees and the Dolomites. It’s a mixed breed between a hard climbing/hiking boot and a trail runner. Cheers from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 from a Spanish guy 🇪🇸.

I recently got the Speedland Sl:HSV. Many factors drew me towards the shoe. The Dual BOA LI2 system, dyneema infused upper, customizable outsole, removable carbon plate, Peebax drop in midsole. And it was worth every penny. This thing is light, nimble and super durable. at 170+ miles and showing very very little wear.

Thanks for the review. I really love La Sportiva for a long time, now. Family own company, rooted in the mountains, incredible quality/durability, making products with no compromise, no ‘fake’ update every year. Clear product lines. For instance the Cyclon is clearly the evolution of the Mutant. Too old now to run the superb Bushido as a few years back. But the Akasha, especially the second version is a marvel of a shoe for long runs slow pace in the mountains. THE thing is that these are not ‘easy’ shoes. Breaking time to fit them well to your feet is long. Maybe 50-80km, in my experience. But it’s worth it and how much! Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭. Ha QD: I'm really intrigued by the Salomon S/Lab genesis and by Killian’s new brand Nnormal 🧐

I’ve seen/read reviews that have me interested in the Pegasus Trail 4. Also considering the Speedgoat 5 which seems to be getting universally good reviews. However, I will likely wait awhile so I can get durability feedback from people/reviewers who have run more miles in these shoes. I’ve found you can’t really judge a shoe until you have logged a decent amount of miles in them. I’ve run in too many shoes that I loved at first but my opinion changed after 100+ miles in them.

Durometer will vary depending on where you test on the midsole. The brand usually tests on the surface below the strobel and insole. You cannot access this surface because it is covered with fabric.

When my Ultra Glide die I'm probably replacing them with the Saucony Xodus Ultra for my long run and ultra distance races (past 50k distance). When my Fuji Lite 2 die I'm on the fence for my fast shoe, possibly the Solomon Pulsar for races or the Saucony Peregrine. Then I may get crazy and get the Lone Peak 6 for my day to day trail runs where I'm not going long and I'm not going particularly fast.

You never like La Sportiva, now I know why you suddenly love it. Thank you for the video. I like La Sportiva, I've Bushido II (size 40), and Cyklon (size 39). I don't know why either the Bushido is smaller or the Cyklon is bigger, so beware. I won't wear the heavier models because of my running style and weight. I'm 5'3", 120lbs and trail run within 10km.

The best trail running shoe ever built for short and medium distances. Perfect for real, trail mountainous terrain including American gravel, British grass and mud, rocky Alps and volcanic rocks in Canary Islands. I have purchased these more than a year ago, did 1200km and will definitely buy them again. Very durable not like a Vibram "trail running" shoes.

I spent 2 years stationed in northern Italy. The Dolomites are amazing. As for these shoes I think I may have to get a pair for Arizona trail running/hiking. I don’t want to go full hiking boot.
I will definitely pick up the Hoka Speedgoat 5. I used one pair of the 1s, two of the 2s, one of the 3s, one of the Evo Speedgoat, one of the 4s in GTX, so guess what... GREETINGS FROM SALZBURG/AUSTRIA!!!

Raced an alpine 55 K in the Cyklon - more like a hiking shoe (and a great one!) than a trail-runner. BOA is terrific for lockdown! Bombproof protection. Hot in warm weather, however. Speedland PDX and HSV make much better use of the BOA by adding a second to each shoe, and without the hot upper. Well-made but ride is a little harsh beyond 20 K.
