Belles images mais malheureusement elles ne sont que cela. La charge se fait au trot sur les deux tiers de la distance à parcourir, puis vient le galop. Le but étant de permettre aux escadrons de rester en formation et donc de pouvoir bousculer efficacement cul par dessus tête les lignes ennemies.

Cavalry charges would be over a short distance, and keeping formation would be imperative, so the cavalry could reform regroup recover and charge again. A blown horse would have been of no use, so the stamina of the horse would be protected. This was true of just about every European army. With one or two exceptions.

No need to be ironic, without a coalition of Prussians and Austrians, the British did not match the French at Waterloo. To start with, Napoléon was victorious but he made the mistake to chase the Prussians who fled the battle with a part of his army and therefore weakened his forces.

The French beat the English in The Hundred Years War! In waterloo, the English (Anglo-Allied Army) only won with the help of the Prussians, the Dutch, the Belgians and the Hannoverians. Read more history...
