Why is everyone saying her accent is fake she's got a strong London accent, trust me im British its no fake.
@QFIhawkman8 жыл бұрын
It's slightly fake in a way; She's from Harrow which has poorer parts and better off parts. Kate naturally speaks well, but in these early songs she slightly overemphasises the local "common" accent for a certain effect. She's playing a part in this song, but yes at least it's the accent from her part of London.
@neildhan8 жыл бұрын
Rachy Simmer I always assumed she was putting the accent on. Or at least exaggerating. Either way, it only ever bothered me for one word, "fittarrr." (Fwiw, also a Brit here.)

You know what, I did not enjoy the noughties while growing up, I am A musician raised on folk, early pop, and classical music. However, this performance has prompted memories of people writing music in their bedrooms and busy open mics throughout Scotland (I am quite sure it was the same around the UK). This performance is outstanding, the lyrics portray the flagrance of a relationship that should never have been, romance to stave away loneliness. Despite the obvious disconnect, she persists in imagining that change can take place and the early flutterings that accompany new love will feature in their relationship once more. Her attitude is clearly inflected on her delivery, reflecting a strong character that would not accept such behaviour if not for the confusing feeling of love accompanied by resentment. A story I feel many of us can identiitfy with.

Probably the best version I have ever heard! Even better than the album. The version she performed with Billy Bragg on the 2007 NME broadcast is a close second but it's not the whole song, it's interspersed with parts of his song "A New England" I don't know BBC standards but I am kind of disappointed they cut "shit" from the lyrics.

Every lyric speaks of two people who should not be together. About a relationship that should have been over ages ago. From their actions the pair of them probably don’t deserve to be with anyone. She’s describing two horrible people. She’s one of them. (In the song that is. I’m sure IRL she’s lovely)

WOW, First, lovely just hearing "The Bare Bone's" of the instrament's. {I love it when Artist's, pick up a Guitar & just sing.) Think she has a great "London"(?) accent, emphasising the crudeness & directness of her speech. {Bit Lily Allen ?} First time hearing her {Being OLD mis-read her name, thinking it was Kate Bush ! LOL} Nice find.... Not impressed with much NEW. I'm a 74 year old Dinasore, {who can't spell.} LOL Ahhh, well "Even Troll's Love Rock n Roll" (Who'll go down that rabbit hole?)

One (and a half) hit wonder and then spends 20 years moaning about how hard done she's been by the business. Had a career most musicians would die for! TV / film career as well! No one owes you a living Kate. Them's the breaks. You're not ENTITLED to a career - you have to earn it. Most of it's luck anyway... Folks vote with their wallets.. and feet. If no one wants to go see you live that's the way it goes.. it's not a conspiracy.. hardly anyone can sustain a career for 20 years. Take the hint.
