This was uncovered by an American youtuber, Laowhy86, very early in the pandemic. He lived in China for like 10 years and is fluent in mandarin and did a video going over a bunch of Chinese primary sources (Wuhan lab website, etc.) and threaded everything perfectly back to around the time the virus escaped that L ab. Idiot me didn't archive them (they were scrubbed after a couple of days) but I visited the websites in the description at the time and they were legit. Chinese people in his comment section also verified that the sites said what he claimed. KZbin buried his video if not outright removed it at some point but its been clear to anyone paying attention that this came from there or at least there was an effort by someone with power in China to make it appear that way.

The claim about the lab leak theory tended to include suggesting that the timeline on the wet market infections was wrong (and that it would be interesting if an infection originated next door to the enormous virus lab). And accidentally getting infected while collecting samples would still have been useful information - and still implicated research. Pushing back on information that could be painted as hearsay makes sense, but the clumsy collection of viruses from a cave is a difference that would make little difference. Someone needed to question Shellenberger from a position of doubt, but Bri seems... I don't know what she's doing.

They don’t care, which is exactly why we need this accountability. These are institutions of repeat offenders, who use every “power” and backing they have for their own advantage or security. Extreme accountability should become the standard for people who desire that, and believe that, authority greater than their own can be awarded to them. This is the only way any centralized system, as ill-advised and ill-fated as they are, should be allowed to continue. People who desire this power and responsibility should be acutely aware that their peers seldom make it out of their posts to be celebrated and continue to live. Great power extreme responsibility is the only way. Or course, conspirators and influencers of theirs need similar, but appropriate and fair treatment. The debate between lab leak vs natural crossover has been the biggest waste of time… better questions for media: who lifted the ban on gain of function research? Who dismantled our pandemic response readiness team? Why did it take so long to notify the public? Why were hospitals so unprepared to handle a respiratory outbreak? I don't want to be premature. A lot hinges on whether the information is good. If so, it's not good. If the blasted thing was engineered, then it seems likely that there would have been information on what is was and how it worked from day 1 - particularly if it was airborne. While stopping it before it started is ideal. But even a headstart on solving the thing would have been massive, right?

Though it seemed beyond obvious at a certain point that it most likely came from a lab, because so many people were still getting their social media accounts blocked, shut down and/or removed I always kept my comments to myself during that 1 to 2 year time stretch. Because I knew it wasn't worth the hassle of getting cancelled and trying to regain my accounts. I would be curious at this point, what can people do that WERE removed from FB or Twitter or the like that were cancelled because they spread, what turns out to be, ACCURATE information, as apposed to disinformation that was the claimed reason for their removal? What recourse do they have? Probably nothing can be done in recompence for those that got kicked off social media, and an apology at this point is close to meaningless. At bare minimum, all the social media giants should contact all those people (whose accounts were shut down) and reinstate them immediately. They should also be forced to reveal at least a generic count of the number of people that were cancelled, or at least all the print and web publications that were removed. Besides the NY Post, I'd like to know who else in the media got it right because it seems they have better investigative reporting than the "sheep" publications that just echoed the wet market BS. I swear it's this kind of garbage reporting that makes me question EVERY (once respected) news organization. When you can't trust the news, where else can you turn for believable information?

It was speculation at that point. So it's not accurate information until evidence is provided. Anyone thinking "I knew it", no you didn't. Guessing is not knowing even it turns out to be correct. You don't say you knew the cards in blackjack if you happen to hit blackjack. That's nonsense. But you are very correct that news have become corrupted. Their main goal is to make flashy headlines that sells rather than report facts and truly investigate no matter if it pleases their readers or not or fits to their agenda. Clickbait here and there. Very same is true in youtube etc. But that's also bigger problem as people just formulate their own opinions with poor evidence and critical thinking. They then listen only those who agree with them. And this is true no matter what side you sit on. People are bombarded with ideas they want to hear making them conspiracy theorists (assuming they know) rather than skeptics (questioning). The most reliable information you can get it to listen those who object your beliefs. Test your belief at every angle. Don't try to prove yourself correct. Try to prove yourself wrong in every possible turn. If you can't, if no one can't, then there is good chance you have something going there. But you must accept being wrong and you can't take pride because that corrupts. The moment you want something to be true, you lost the game. You are not investigating anymore, you are confirming yourself and that is a cardinal sin of skepticism.

The bat caves are far from the Wuhan lab. The pandemic didn't start near the caves. If the wet market was the source, the pandemic would have started in location the infected animals were captured. The pandemic started in Wuhan because that was where the virus was developed.

Am I the only one who remembers the scientists in Wuhan coming forward and saying it came from there? I remember some of them died {allegedly} from covid, and some "disappeared". There was one who the CCP said was alive, having survived covid, but he was on vacation. He was never heard from again. Then it all went away. Nothing more was said. It all was swept away just before it was a big deal in this country. No one seems to remember any of it. Is this an example of the Mandella effect, or does anyone else remember any of that?
