I prefer lab-made diamonds. I don't want to wear a ring knowing people died over it. Also, why pay that much money when you can get the same thing for a fraction. Save that $ for a house, or vacation!

I get why people look down on them, I don’t look down at them as an engineer I look at facts and at the end of the day a lab grown diamond is a diamond. As I see it a diamond is crystalline carbon, lab grown are diamond seeds grown larger (yes more to it but in laymen’s terms). So many earth mined diamonds have other trace elements in them like boron, phosphorous and nitrogen (think I got those right) in them so as see it since they are not all carbon they are really not true diamonds yet so many believe they are and still pay inflated prices. I am buying the stone, it’s physical, chemical and molecular composition then how it is cut and sparkles. I not buying it because it came out of the earth.

Veteran Child these lab diamonds are a scam. Ask the people selling them about buy back options. Not saying that 30% lower is not substantial but if you want to trade up or return the diamond they will give you $0 to buy it back. I honestly love the fact that now they make these darn things in a lab and the price should reflect that. So how do you feel about buying a Ferrari made by ford with a Ford Focus engine for 30% less than a Ferrari price? It looks just like a Ferrari and people would not know it’s a Ford Focus unless they looked under the hood. You only pay $300K for it and not the full $450K.

you can get a lab diamond for 40% less : that's considerable :...…………….……………………………………………………………………………..''''''So how do you feel about buying a Ferrari made by ford with a Ford Focus engine for 30% less than a Ferrari price'''''''''''…………….……………………………………………………………………………………….not a fair analogy because the Ferrari engine is better than the Ford engine : if Ford built a car that could perform as well as a Ferrari then it would be reasonable to buy the Ford car for 30% of the price of the Ferrari : that type of thing has happened in other industries like the car industry where Tesla released the Model S for 75 thousand dollars and Chevy released the bolt the same year : the Model S cost almost twice as much but both cars had the same mileage per charge : legitimately consumers asked why should I pay 75 thousand for the Model S when I could pay 36 thousand for a bolt that has the same mileage?

All real diamonds are blood diamonds...even the ones that are advertised as being sourced ethically... everyone should be buying lab grown diamonds...they are the same as mined diamonds 100℅

A diamond--whether produced in a lab or mined underground, is composed of crystallized carbon. Diamonds aren't even the rarest or most expensive of gems.

Couldn’t agree more I would even go as far as to say diamonds of color grades J and yellower along with ones that have fluorescence in them should not be called diamonds because they are not crystallized carbon, they carbon with other elements like boron, phosphorus and nitrogen.

I'm sold on lab made diamonds.. Why pay all that money for a "real" diamond when you can buy a lab made diamond for a fraction of the price?

It’s an amazing technology . The big problem with this is that in 5 years they will be making 3 carrot diamonds for extremely low cost . Like any technology it gets exponentially cheaper over time. So anyone who payed 15k now for a lab grown instead of 20k for earth grown will probably regret it when it’s 1k 5 years from now.. also I’m sure the markets are already flooded with the lab grown since it’s chemically identical and really no way to tell the difference. Times up on the diamond industry .

Full disclosure, I'm no scientist. So when Ms. Bissell explained what they did to arrive at these artificial diamonds, all that went right over my head. But what I did take away from this was that these artificial rocks are supposedly 100% identical to the natural product. Our anchors seemed rather unimpressed by this fact. If I could hazard a guess, I believe the point Ms. Bissell was attempting to impress upon our friends was that sometimes, the value of a thing lies in the thing itself, and not the process by which it came to be there. Perhaps an analogy then. I'm given to understand that the penicillin that's used in antibiotics is also grown in a lab. But just like the naturally occurring fungus, it'll save your life when you need it to. And I'm pretty sure the gifting of diamonds predated the De Beers Company's (admittedly rather impressive) advertising campaigns of the late 20th century. The saying, "a diamond is forever", was supposed to allude to the use of diamonds as a symbol of the giver's eternal love and commitment to the giftee... and likely not to the geological process by which such rocks were naturally formed under the surface of the Earth. Nice try though. And while I'm sure that Ms. Bissell would have delighted in pointing these things out, I have to applaud her restraint. It might have seemed like she was being overly defensive of her product while being interviewed on a national network. Fortunately, that's not something I have to worry about.

Why do you keep describing lab grown diamonds as artificial then you say “they are supposedly 100% identical to the natural product”. Do you know something we all don’t, if so, care to share?

It's all about the value ascribed to ' natural' diamonds. Lab grown are the same chemically. They are real diamonds, only- grown in a lab.

In future price may come down further to 90 percent less than natural diamond if quantity of lab diamond manufactured diamond is increased . Thanks - Rangaraju IRS Addl commr diamond expert . India

Well easy to see that the interviewers aren’t believers and a couple of things that stood out me in this video; 1) one of the worst spoken CEOs I’ve heard in awhile, wow was she nervous 2) the female interviewer really showed her true colors with her “there are probably several woman out there who wouldn’t be happy if they found out their fiancé paid 30% less for their diamond”. Red flag men run for the hills if hear things like this, how petty and materialistic. 3) the eco friendly comment from the male presenter, really buddy you think the amount of energy digging out, sorting them shipping diamonds stores is less than the lab’s energy? 4) the diamonds are rare comment…really people at this point there has to be millions of millions if not trillions of diamonds in existence not mention they are being mined daily so what is so rare about these? Seriously, doesn’t rare mean there are few finite amounts?

2, there is no wrong if you feel not happy when you know that what you received is not actually what you thought it would be. Women don't sell their lives for just a diamond, and if you think you can buy a wife with a diamond, you're naïve. Instead of judging and blaming women for being materialistic, men should be honest first
