They dont tell you that a lab tech associates degree can lead to other careers that dont require a bachelors that pay more than 50k and up to 120k.

Leon Wellz what are those? I’m currently in school for my associates in medical lab tech
@acetylcholine36565 жыл бұрын
Anthonia Orji Thefew that I was told about are just the tip of whats out there. Pathologist assistants make about 80-90k and most colleges only hire lab scientists with experience. You can be a preventative maintenance tech (which from what i was told from my instructor) that you could make 100k a year, an application specialist for one of the big companies (siemens pay better, sysmex, etc.) you teach lab personnel how to work the machines 80-120k, traveling lab techs make good money (about 60-70k; more than or equal to MLS/CLS/MT), you can travel to other countries and inspect other lab instruments and processing which is also 80-100k, and right now i am planning on doing a cytotechnology program which cytologists make 65-75k PLUS a bonus since they are so scarce. Thats only the ones i can remember i was told about. Its TRULY an underrated field. Also if you want to take it a step further if you had the time and money, you could become a DCLS (doctor of clinical lab science) and yes its real and brand new BUT they are looking for experience and not fresh graduates. There are so many opportunities and options.

Getting my bachelors in biochemistry right now. I’m so glad I started at community, as I’m finishing all my chemistry, biology, physics and math with $0.00 debt. About to transfer soon and I couldn’t be happier and more excited to work in a lab!!! Favorite thing to do is gel electrophoresis or spectrometry. Titrations are awesome too. @Nocturnal_Deity5 жыл бұрын
pablo mccarty you’ll be hired on similarly to this guy. Of course I recommend you get an internship or apprenticeship while you are in school to better your odds of getting a job quicker. The key is to gain experience and continue to find jobs that can teach and pay you more. Best of luck
@CS-er9xv4 жыл бұрын
It's useless if you're trying to be a lab tech. If you wanna be a lab tech with an associates degree then you have to have gone thru the MLT program and be certified by ASCP or another accrediting agency. However if you have a bachelors in biology, SOME hospitals hire those people without being certified as an MT.
@buffycatnip4 жыл бұрын
apply to st genetics in texas to be lab technician
@xx1122673 жыл бұрын
Start looking for co op/internship programs, and do classes that require lab. Once you go through a process in lab safe the protocols and what you learned. That way you can put it on a resume. That’s how I got my research assistant job (basically a lab technician). There is a difference between lab technician and medical lab technician just FYI. Most places require a certification program for a medical lab technician.

Degree is really all that matters. Jobs can’t see you’re transcripts. It doesn’t matter if it takes you 8 years to get a bachelors or 2 years, the paper doesn’t say much. Think of it like a diploma... I recommend you intern or do a job study while you’re in school. Experience is great!
