Another great video Pascal! Please do a video that includes how you have done your current digital communication with C4FM, DMR and D Star. When you upgrade to another system of digital communication or node or hot spot it would be so informative to see how you have set it up. Maybe the first video as a basic setup, then a second to include more advanced users. You always have such detailed videos that are typically over our heads but leave us with more desire of how to connect the Amateur Radio operator to the rest of the world.

Hi James, thanks for letting me know, I wasn't too sure at first if it would interest the ham community. At the same time, I hope that young network engineer will find this video on KZbin and discover ham radio, that will be great. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Sorry for the dummy question. I was thinking to add a proxy to my network. But I don't know where to plug it. Should I add a proxy before, after or in parallel with the DNS Server? Thank you for the great content!

Great video - very informative - thank you. I have a question on a different subject. I am interested in getting involved in FUSION Radio, but I am confused as to what equipment I need. Everyone seems to have a different opinion. I live in Alberta and our son who is also an Amateur Radio Operator, lives in Nova Scotia. I am interested in having a secure radio link to connect with him in an easy and reliable form. Please note that my closest Yaesu dealer is a 3 hour drive away (one way). Before I commit to buying the equipment I want to be sure I know what I need. At present the only FUSION friendly radio I own is a FT-70D. What else do I need? Michael VA6XMB

Hi Michael, Thanks for watching. For Wires-X you will need a dedicated mobile with a HRI-200, but I think with the new firmware it's not necessary, but this kit is needed at each end. Or you can get two OpenSPOT2 and you will be able to make a point to point with your son. See the link below. www.sharkrf.com/products/openspot2/learn-more/ 73 Pascal VA2PV

@@michaelbradley8508 I will upgrade my FTM-100DR very soon and make a video, with the new firmware you can use it as an Internet radio directly to Wires-X, but you can't host a private room without an HRI-200. The OpenSPOT is still a good solution for point to point, but you will have to read about it, ask the manufacturer as I didn't try this feature. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Is There IPV5?
@Douglas_Gillette

IPv6 and IPv4 is really a misnomer. They are not the same protocol with different versions. They actually have different Ethernet type identifiers. IPv5 did/does exists and is completely unique. IPv5, or Internet Stream Protocol, was an experimental protocol developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was designed for streaming data such as voice and video over the Internet. The name “IPv5” was used for this experimental protocol, which never became a standard for general use.
