Exactly. JimBob owns the TLC show and they have a defined narrative where women aren't really allowed to say they aren't having anymore kids or they want epidurals or stuff like that. It's pooh poohed. Glad to see the Forsyths doing it their own way and Joy being authentic in her feelings and statements

@ThinkingVicky
@ThinkingVicky 4 жыл бұрын
@mountaingal homemaker not technically. There are no stats to back that statement. If indeed someone does experience issues then the number is negligible at best. Also your statement regarding medical intervention being needed infrequently for the best possible outcome in untrue. Medical intervention today has saved millions of mothers and their babies. Do you not realize how many women and infants died prior to medical intervention during birth?

Having your baby with or without an epidural, does not mean you love your baby anymore or less. I’m so glad the culture has shifted back. I felt like for many years women were being pressured to do the natural route, and that’s wonderful, but it might not be your story. C-section, vaginal, epidural, no epidural, Pitocin, no Pitocin, in a bath tub, fully nursed, fully formula, a mix of both, whatever your story, you are a warrior! You are a mommy!

Let's not judge anyone for their choice of labor mmk? I didn't get an epidural with any of my 4 simply because the epidural scared me more than the pain. I've heard some horror stories involving them and made my choice. Did I feel like a warrior afterwards? Heck yeah. But I don't judge anyone for getting one. It's a personal matter.
@Pointlesspeach
@Pointlesspeach 4 жыл бұрын
Lol not everyone has super intense labour pains. Also some people like me, have family members who seem to have bad reactions to epidural so the idea scares me. Also, I feel like women have been doing this for hundreds of thousands of years without pain relief, so it can’t be TOO bad (but I mean, for some people it is.) I was very fortunate with my first and only birth in that labour was over in 4.5 hours. I was pushing for maybe 30-45 minutes. I definitely understand that genetics would play a huge role in how difficult labour and delivery would be. But I definitely think there’s women like me who have a much easier experience than we think we will, just by pure dumb luck.

We have advances in medicine that people take advantage of all the time both for themselves and their children...to treat a wide variety of illnesses or conditions and yet many women still feel judged and/or guilty for having an epidural. When there is no shame in that nor does it hurt the baby. Everyone’s birth experience and body is different but giving birth for most women is not an easy process. It’s extremely painful and exhausting and even more so the longer you labour.Joy finally having the epidural eased her pain enough to give her body a chance to rest a bit, so that she was able to have the energy and strength needed to push when it was time. You did absolutely amazing Joy and don’t ever feel bad for having an epidural or for anything else you feel,experience or choose to do during childbirth. Advances in medicine are gifts from God and there’s nothing wrong with accepting His gifts to us.....He happy to have us do so. Congratulations on your sweet baby girl. She sure is blessed to have such a wonderful mama....and papa.

I’ve never understood how women go through all that without the epidural. So crazy! But I guess if the baby is coming and there’s no turning back you have no choice and that’s just that

I've done both. When you are able to go into labor naturally your body has the perfect hormones each step of the way to support the mother. I would never try a natural labor with pitocin! Ouch😆😆

I had 3 and 1 didn't work with my biggest baby. It's hard but doable also especially for someone like me who labors fairly quickly and easily

Tara people don’t understand that epidurals can slow the natural progression of labor because the mom can feel what’s going on, not sire when a contraction is coming , can’t change positions to allow baby to move more “easily” down through the pelvis, etc. You can walk or even lie on your sides or get on hands and knees. It’s very restrictive. Women weren’t meant to lie flat and give birth. You are working against gravity that way. Yes, it “hurts”, but you also forget it 5 minutes later. That’s they beauty of it and why we keep having babies, thankfully. I understand women want choices and it’s great we have them. There are many ways to prepare for a birth mentally, emotionally and physically so you don’t have the mindset of it being “Painful”. I realize it’s not an option for all but going without medical intervention reduces complications and c-sections. Not saying it is a bad thing to have or want medical intervention. But it’s better for baby without. No shaming here. But when people see “how can anyone do this without an epidural” it instills unnecessary fear and bias for women who haven’t been there yet.

mountaingal homemaker I am right there with you. After my first hospital birth, I swore I’d never go back. Fir my last one, I used hospital midwives and they recommended a procedure to “ripen my cervix” that caused me to go into hyper overdrive labor that put my baby intro distress and required a c section. They didn’t disclose that this was a side effect! Then they overdosed me with anesthesia that kept me from holding my baby for over an hour. It was horrible.

Yet here In New Zealand, it's the opposite 🤣 epidurals aren't really a thing, most women do it with gas and air. Out of my 3 births, 2 have been natural with no pain relief and the one with pain relief was just gas and air

😭😭 I'm not crying 😂 just couldn't find my tissues 😁 I hope there is another one but if not this one is great. Like you mentioned in one of your posts when you were packing for hospital bag. You were hoping for a window so your family is able to see her. Is just magical giving birth and seeing your baby you had in your body for 40 weeks 😊😍 and the baby on your chest skin to skin just bonding for the first moments is just a Beautiful moment. Looking at God's beautiful creation congratulations to a beautiful family of 4 brings so much Joy to my heart 😍😊❤🙏

Joy has the patience of a saint. That woman loudly talking about random things in the background would have made me snap. I don’t know who she is but I was annoyed and I wasn’t even the one in labor.

Love the photos on Instagram and your so lucky to have a VBAC. The doctor wouldn’t let me with my son back in January even though it had been 6 years since my daughter’s birth, but I’m kind of thankful after hearing what my son weighed.
