My daughter sent me a link last night of my childhood home up for sale again at a ridiculous price for the suburb known as the Bronx. My parents got a SA Housing house in 1970, they got to pick the one they wanted in the street of about 12 houses at the time as life in Australia was good then.They brought it, then sold it and brought a new land and house package, paid that off and moved to country Victoria on 3 acres after us kids had grown up. My mum died in 2021 and all us kids live in SA, my 87 years old dad can't sell and buy to come back to SA, them days are over so he's stuck in Victoria. I think more people need to look at what each party has done in the past, without relying on news presenters to interpret for them. for example, wheres Scomo now? working for BP overseas for over a million dollars per year. funny how former ministers retire to get as far away from their country as possible to work for the companies they use to regulate industries for. totally not a conflict of interest. I know if BP offered me a million dollar salary to be lenient on them I totally wouldn't take it! :P

Pauline’s solutions won’t work. End the 50% CGT discount and negative gearing for investors and allow first homebuyers to negatively gear. That might give our kids a chance to get into the ridiculously inflated Au housing market.

I can tell you…we don’t. Anyone over the age of 50 most likely has a home, possibly an investment property, and they will do anything to see the value of their asset keep rising. The voting group 18-40, who have been screwed, are a small voting % of the total.

The home ownership was always one of the lowest among OECD countries, with only 30% in Australia. The other 30% of Australians have mortgages with their homes belonging to the banks. Hungarians or Poles have almost 80% ownership... And why the Saudi or Brunei royals take better care of their subjects, spend the profits coming from the sale of mineral resources on their people, healthcare, education, housing than that wimp the English king Charles in Australia?
