It’s official: we have a new prime minister. When Sir Keir Starmer spoke on the steps of No 10 Downing Street he became just the seventh ever Labour politician to lead the country - but the challenges he is facing are vast.
Kamal and Camilla take a look at the issues at the top of his in-tray, from a sluggish economy to immigration concerns. Plus with a low vote share and a historic number of seats won by the Lib Dems, Reform, the Greens and independent pro-Palestine candidates, they ask whether Labour can really be the “government of service” Starmer wants them to be?
Plus, Iain Duncan Smith joins Kamal and Camilla in the studio to discuss how he held on to his London seat and what next for the Tories as they reel from one of their worst electoral losses ever.

It's not rocket science Iain:

I agree with some of what Iain says, but I disagree that people aren't attracted by Farage. Just about everything he says makes sense. He's a patriot, which is needed. He's a conviction politician, which doesn't seem to apply to the Metropolitan Elite, whether they fly the red or the blue flag.

They still do not get it. I will never forgive the Tories for what they have allowed into this country.

It is not "Lady Victoria" - she is not the daughter of a duke, marquess or an earl - she is "Lady Starmer". What has the Telegraph come to . . . .

Could it be that many Reform voters were looking for an actual conservative party? Cultural issues?

He still doesn't get it, and I like IDS. Reform voters like NF and his views. Its not a protest, Reform are the only party talking to the average person. The uniparty dont listen.

Always brilliant and like IDS but Reform is NOT a protest vote; They speak our language. Believe or think that at your peril Conservatives.

IDS has got to have had one of the jammiest elections holds in the history of General Elections. It was the result of Labour Party booting their own member and parachuting their own one in and the previous MP running as an independent, which split the vote allowing IDS to win by default.

If Sinn Fein don't sit in the UK parliament then they shouldn't get paid or even be in the running. FULL STOP !!!

Profound commonsense. I voted Reform simply to give the arrogant Tories a kicking.

Iain Duncan Smith is talking complete bullshit. if Labour hadn't made the absolutely ridiculous decision to deselect Shaheen she would have won by a comfortable margin.

I quite like IDS - but the Tories def still dont get the problem issues and i dont think they will anytime soon. Also at no point does he mention how much charisma Farage has, and how little charisma there is in the Conservative party. They had Boris and their only hope is someone coming along with that kind of popular appeal. Def in denial.
