I really appreciate how Sunak and Starmer have conducted themselves, professional and wanting to get on with job, in sharp contrast to the politics in the USA. It was more entertaining when Truss was around and faced Starmer at PMQ but the price was too high economically.

He’s always been a genuine decent person. People are put out because he’s extremely wealthy. He was doomed from Day 1 after the Johnson and Truss scandal. This speech should put to rest any doubts people had on Sunak's abilities. You can get to the top by chance, but you can't stay there by chance. He may have been politically defeated, but that doesn’t reflect his incompetence in the role.

Always have been impressed with MR Sunak, a very smart and articulate speaker. It’s a shame he came to power later in the Tory’s reign in power. He was a breath of fresh air to UK politics and a shame that he didn’t get his full term as PM.

I hope Sunak or someone of his ilk stays on as head of the opposition. I'm an Aussie and i am left politically ... But Sunak does seem true to his values and seems quite fine. Government needs a strong opposition be it left or right. So i hope Sunak can stay on and provide some stability to the opposition so the government can be spurred on to be greater too. It's lovely to see a man happier though suffering an electoral loss hope he can lead the conservative party through this time.

Sad to see such good comments about Rishi. He was a gentleman and a fine one BUT back benchers made his life hell!! Bickering in the background helps noone. Instead of supporting him they drove him to despair. His predecessors created the mess which he was not given time to rectify, yet he did very well. Economy improved in short time. People liked him when during furlow he gave money.....but knocked him as PM. Racism tones were there. The guy worked hard for his riches and was lucky to marry a good woman who also has done well. People let jealousy took over to let labour win.

After losing the election, Rishi has done the Conservatives a massive favour. He has set the tone as an opposition party. They will oppose and oppose ferociously, but without the bitterness that we see in the US. Kemi Badenoch has picked up this ball and run with it, making a very articulate, incisive and humorous speech, keeping it polite but still wielding the knife. He is showing the rest of the world how democracy is done, lawfully, firmly but politely.

Some comments gave Sunak too much credit. Remember during Boris Johnson's tenure, he was one of the cabinet members among Boris' incompetence and corrupt administration. He just didn't speak up and therefore Sunak was also part of the problem.

Lovely speech from the opposition side led by Rishi Sunak, welcoming the new Government. Many countries could learn from such a demeanour and by not indulging mindless opposition for the sake of opposing (by putting party's interests above national welfare).
