I hear you. He is nothing but a crook a liar and a parasite on this country. He lost. He is not wanted and he knows it. Yet he forces himself on us knowing these facts. He's not out of his depth at all, when you consider what his actual goals are. He has implemented policies as chancellor and now PM that directly benefit his family, and is desperately hanging on to get the India trade deal over the line, which will benefit his family even further. The other task of a Tory governement is to transfer the wealth from the poor to themselves and their mates/donors. If you judge him on those terms, he's anything but out of his depth, and he's succeeding. The trouble is, it's rather sh1tty for the rest of us.

This is the cost of austerity because austerity killed any chance of real growth in the economy and to make up for it the Tories have resorted to insane amounts of borrowing. This borrowing causes the interest payments on the national debt to increase and as a result the Tories put up taxes to cover it.. Sunak can't claim he inherited a bad situation because he borrowed over 300 billion pounds and raised taxes 22 times during his two year tenure as Chancellor. During his 1 year tenure as Prime Miniature he's borrowed an additional 100 billion pounds and raised taxes 4 to 8 more times.

The problem with modern government is that the Prime Minister is not interested in this 'fundamental crisis' , because it won't play out any differently for him or his party during the election. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the class of How to Answer Questions like a Politician. 1 - acknowledge the question has been asked 2 - deliver a platitude about how good the subject of the question is, or condemn how bad it is (depending on what the subject is) 3 - pretend that you have personal experience/knowledge of the subject and care deeply about it 4 - quote the party line and deny that the problem is as bad as made out, and that the government is actually doing a great job of improving said thing. Select whatever data you feel will support your argument and ignore anything that might challenge it 5 - continue to repeat point 4, rephrasing the same non-argument until your interlocutor(s) give up, or you can claim you have a lot to do and leave the room 6 - if in doubt, hide in a fridge

It must be so satisfying knowing that being a politician, You can blatantly lie, Do f-all work and use your position to fill your pockets and the worst you'll have to deal with is a select committee with zero power to punish you...

In the commons Tories often lay into Labour for their councils having higher council tax, but this is to fill the gap which the tories have left the councils with. Make no mistake this is an extension of Neo-liberalism and attempts to make Councils act in competition with one another and run them as businesses. The issue here is that public services do not bring direct profit as a consultancy might, they benefit the population in myriad ways and may actually provide value for money, the issue the tories have is they do not value such things. SEND and social care are two areas which highlight this, placing individual responsibility above that of societal responsibility is a suicide mission. It is a race to the bottom. And it kills.

The only true thing said here is that Local Councils/Authorities are central to our communities, however, with 75% ish of budget going on education and social care, it leaves very little for everyone else. Councils are pared back to almost the bare minimum as education and social care are protected services - recruitment and retention of its staff out with those services is negligible. As for his quote of real terms of increase in budgets, it's ring-fenced for education and social care..... rest have to shrink until really any other service type is no longer deliverable.

Looking at some of the responses from people trying to defend what’s happened over the last 14 years to what they feel either has happened when Labour were last in or may happen next time is astonishing. In my 71 years, all I know is that I’ve never seen corruption and lying of the scale I’ve seen in the last 14 years. So I’ll take m my chances with anyone other than the last lot thanks very much. And pray they’ve got a plan to get the taxpayers money back from those thieves who stole it from us over the last 14 years!!!’

Due to tory policy to engage with a market economy for public services, councils have to pay more. Shareholders demand their profits. Also, as stated, social care was offloaded onto councils with little or no increase in budget.
