Creatine - Everything You Need To Know - With Dr. Dan and Lee Labrada == FREE 12 WEEK PHYSIQUE TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM :www.labrada.com...
Ask Lee Q & A #1) www.labrada.com...
ALL Labrada supplements here: www.labrada.com...
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding Fitness or Nutrition and I will be happy to try and answer them. Here's where you can ask.. www.labrada.com...
This week Dr. Dan and I are discussing the topic of Creatine and if it should be your stable supplement?
Creatine became a popular supplement in the 1990s with bodybuilders and athletes for increasing strength and building lean muscle mass.
"Creatine Loading" is a common practice of taking larger doses of creatine daily for 7 to 14 days, followed by a "maintenance" amount indefinitely. This "loading" is thought to product faster possible benefits.
However, research shows unless fast results are needed, starting with creatine "maintenance" phase will produce the same results over a 4 week period as "loading", plus with less bloating and gastric issues.
Creatine can also be used in the treatment of patients with mitochondrial disorders who primarily experience muscle-related symptoms.
Creatine taken appropriately with plenty of fluids should not result in cramping or stomach issues sometimes associated with taking this supplement.
For more training tips, visit our website Labrada.com and subscribe to our KZbin channel.
I'm Lee Labrada, your lean body coach. Stay lean and stay strong.

Labrada Nutrition THANK YOU for this information: I am 52, last time I worked out was in ‘97, so I am totally “wimped out/no muscle” so to speak, and when I first started thinking about working out again-I had a friend try to tell Me that I will have to work out 3X as hard for any results-and it really made Me almost give up the idea. Not anymore...,I have learned SO much from your channel, Lee-🙌🏾!!!! I CAN’T wait to start next month... I am going to Get Jacked again and I here for all the info You got for Me!!

At 70, I'm still working out (though a LOT less than way back - ha), and Creatine goes into my protein shake every day. Even the AARP recommends we older (ahem) folks take Creatine just to maintain the muscle we still (hopefully) have. Thanks for this great 'Tuber' on Creatine, Lee.

I have been lifting/working out with weights since I was about 12 years old. I was a Division I lacrosse player in my late teens/early twenties. I am now 71 years old. I never used creatine but, as a result of getting older, I am now considering using creatine. I still workout every other day with weights and some high intensity cardio. Fortunately, I still have a reasonably thick head of hair. My question is - does creatine actually cause your hair to thin?

What do you think of creatine capsules? Is creatine powder the better choice? Thank you.
@Labrada
@Labrada 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Greg, it all comes down to what is in the capsule. If the ingredients in the capsule are the same as the powder, generally being Creatine Monohydrate then there will be very little to no difference, it all comes down to your preference on how to consume the product. We do recommend 3-5 grams of creatine monohydarte everyday for best benefits, even taking the supplement on off days. Yesterday's nutrition fuels today's workout. Hope this helps, all the best.

I like to use warm water with some powdered gatorade post workout. The creatine dissolves much better and the gatorade helps with the insulin spike without a big dose of creatine. Hi Lee...Thanks for your videos. Learning much! Should creatine be consumed pre or post workout? All the best and thank-you.
@Labrada
@Labrada 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, either way will work. The key to gaining the benefits of Creatine is to consume it on a daily basis even on no lifting days. This ensures the body up regulates the optimal amount of Creatine into the muscles themselves. With that said we like to recommend taking it before a workout. Thanks for the question, and kind comments.

I have an important question, but first i would like to say that I understand the claim that German creatine creapure is the gold standard when it comes to purity. Other creatines that do not have the creapure label on it are made in China, which would be considered low quality. Would you buy a German car or a Chinese car? So My question is that let's say If I order a creatine from a top brand company that does NOT have a creapure label on it, do you believe that it would be considered a very low quality creatine to put into my body because it was made in China having possible toxicities in it? Thank you

Hello i'm about to hit 44 years of age my body is recked from maul labor and bad nutrition my hole life, i want to start to get in shape and am thinking of using supplements, creatine is one thing i used back in my 20's when i was going to the gym so i was thinking of using it again. I am clueless to nutrition and supplements i have lots of pain in all of my joints and would like to find a way to subside the pain, i had bin an avid cannabis user for most of my life and since stop using cannabis completely since doing so my body is always hurting i want to lose weight and get myself to a better place both mentally and physically. I use to eat at fast food places daily and drink soda with every meal, i have since stopped going to those places and stopped drinking soda, the only thing i drink now is water and milk im clearing the fog/cobwebs out of my mind by stopping the cannabis use and now i would like to work on my physical well being and am not sure where to start. I have since turned to the internet to help find some answers but every place i go says something different don't do this do that. Can you help me with some simple guidelines that will help get me started with my physical well being. I'm mostly looking to get healthy and gain some strength back and live a pain free life. Some things to note i have had surgery on my back and both shoulders an have carpel tunnel and tennis elbow in both arms so starting out is not going well but i want to push threw it and get myself on the road to a pain free life without the use of masking agents like cannabis... thank you for your time, any advise will be listened to. It doesn't matter when you take it because after using it for 30 days it saturates (builds up) in your muscles. So, all the silly tricks of using juice or “loading” with high doses are unnecessary, because after 30 days the user will have the same levels built up in their muscles.

@Labrada
@Labrada 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jackson, losing unwanted body fat all comes down to our diet. Understanding that that body thrives off consistency, so our total calorie intake as well as macro nutrients should be around the same everyday. From here creatine can help fuel the muscles, which indirectly could help you burn more fat if you are working out longer and harder then you normally do. However if your main goal is to lose unwanted body fat we would suggest focusing on your total calorie intake while consuming a diet rich in extra lean proteins. Around 0.7- 1.0 grams of protein per ideal body pound per day. Once you come close to reaching your goal weight, creatine could be a great nutritional supplement to implement at that time. Hope this helps, wish you all the best with your fitness and nutrition goals.

While there are numerous benefits there is ALWAYS a negative (or two). A honest talk about creatine should mention there is hair thinning over time. Something people should be aware of. For older people who have (via genetics) lost a lot of hair w/o taking creatine...then in their case...this wouldn't be a concern. Obviously. But for younger athletes wanting to keep as much air for as long as they can...I've been taking creatine for maybe 3 years...last year (2018) I noticed and my hair stylist hair thinning...now I know it was mostly the creatine + using Head/Shoulders shampoo...had been u sing H&S years before I began using creatine. No hair loss that I noticed....just the usual hair loss from washing my hair. Was always still very dense. No more creatine for me.

Hi David, this is an employee of Labrada, not Lee himself. The key is your total calorie intake and macro nutrient breakdown. To achieve your goal we would recommend sticking to whole foods along with a meal replacement protein shake. Here at Labrada we like to recommend 3 whole food meals along with 2 protein shakes a day for optimal protein intake while exercising to burn the unwanted fat stores. Creatine and other supplement products are ideal to introduce to your diet once you get close to your lean body mass goals. There's a great program Lee himself has created called the Lean Body Trainer, you can download this program for free on your smart phone. Just search Lean Body Trainer in the App store. Wish you all the best with your fitness goals.

@MCP2002 5 жыл бұрын
1. Yes. You SHOULD take creatine if you lift weights. I take it post workout with my protien shake. 2. Loading phase is 20-25g per day for 5-7 days. After that, I would take 3-5g every day. Hope this helps.

One thing you didnt really address, but mentioned was cycling creatine, and how that was the old way of doing it. So do you have to cycle on and off creatine or can I use it continuously for years and be fine? at 5g/day of course.
@Labrada
@Labrada 7 жыл бұрын
Great question Barraca, from the studies coming out consistent consumption of creatine at 5g a day shows no negative side affects long term. So the choice is yours. Cycling off every 5 months for 3-4 weeks isn't a bad idea, but not needed if you are enjoying the added energy and fullness of the muscle creatine can provide. Hope this helps, all the best.

Is creatine bad for people with hypertension? since it causes water retention. thank you.
@Labrada
@Labrada 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew, the water retention has really been over exaggerated in our opinion. Eating processed salty food will make your body hold far far more water then any creatine product ever will. If you are taking any prescription medications we recommend talking to your physician first. If you are not on prescription medications creatine is a great product to use with resistance training. Hope this helps answer your question all the best.

+Labrada Nutrition thank you for responding. yes im on prescription medication but its not a diuretic. my doctor told me as long as I stay on the recommended dosage its ok to take creatine. Im just worried with all the articles I see about creatine causing water retention which causes increased blood pressure.

My question was answered on the last part by the good Dr.When I was younger I did the" creatine loading" 5 day .Now 62 with arthritis in fingers so obviously had to alter my workouts accordingly and cut out certain supplements like creatine now I see there's a benefit in using in senior workout guys like myself so Lee thanks to you and the Dr. for clearing up any confusion I had on my current condition.

I'm a track athlete and my primary event is high jump. I'm wondering if the extra water weight from creatine will be against me and not help. Look up high jumpers like Javier Sotomayer and other high jumpers and you'll see the kind of build I'm working for. I also do triple jump, long jump, and the 100m. Will creatine help me, or will the extra water weight hurt me? Specifically for high jump.

Hey Rob, we like the creatine monohydrate ourselves, this ingredient has been studied more then any other supplement so we like to stick what has been proven through science which is monohydrate creatine. Thanks for stopping by, wish you all the best with your fitness goals.

I think the only question I have regarding creatine (or supplements in general is this...and I actually might be answering my own question asking this lol) if you eat 7 small meals a day consisting of 1 gram of protein per pound bodyweight, high carb, low fat diet, and then you take creatine, i'm assuming that creatine isn't gonna really benefit you at all since you eat protein at each meal and a lot of protein foods have creatine naturally in them. Creatine (or any supplement for that matter) will only benefit you if you don't take in those foods that have creatine in them. Hope that question made sense :P and question 2 is this, can you take creatine as a pre workout?

Hey Humam, creatine is a great supplement. We like to lean towards createine monohydrate as this version of creatine has truly been studied the most. With that said, at the age of 15 consuming 1 gram of extra lean protein per ideal body pound per day, plus 2 grams of carbs per ideal body pound per day, and a good amount of healthy fats along with at least 1 cup of veggies per meal should be the main focus. We feel coming close to these whole food goals will benefit a growing boy far more then a single supplement. However.... if your son is already consuming close to these macro nutrients then yes adding in creatine can aid in explosive energy during sport or weight training. Hope this helps answer your question, all the best.

@Labrada

We can consume creatine with any supplement at anytime of the day, what we recommend here at Labrada Nutrition is the consistent consumption of around 5 grams of creatine monohydrate 1 time per day for at least 2-3 weeks to see the true benefits of the supplement. The length of time you would like to consume the product is up to you, most often we see people using creatine for at least 12-16 weeks before taking a break if they feel it's beneficial for their needs. Hope this helps, thanks for dropping by, all the best.
