I really love your approach. I want a dog that can live life with my family. The basic commands are great but I want a dog that can go everywhere with us. Thank you for this

We just rescued a black lab puppy a month ago. Her name is Libby. Got her on Memorial Day weekend. Libby is short for Liberty. Anyway, that's when I discovered your videos. She is 4 months old now. She watches you on KZbin. No lie. She needs a lot of work yet, but you have become my hero. Thank you for all you do!!!

What a great video and what a great property! I have to admit I'm a little jealous Stonnie. haha I keep telling my wife we need to get an acreage so the dog can roam. That environment is so wonderful for them. Thanks for the sensible advice brother. Cheers.

Mentor dog...very useful! Mine herded the young dog back into the house yesterday, when she zoomied out onto the road...(thankfully no cars coming by. So good that I can get out into different environments to teach the dog to avoid problems... If I ever get another pup, gonna teach it moving-car awareness...Thanks Stonnie.

You always say to “live your dog training” and I think you did an excellent job of getting that point across. Barney and I can always find adventures just outside our backdoor. He and I both get in some exercise, he has fun, and he learns a lot without it being a formal training situation. I always appreciate the time and effort you guys put into helping people like me be a better dog trainer.

I’m finding all sorts of adventures really close to my house. Just going into the pet store is an Adventure. The geese near the pond by the Kroger attacked us that was a good one. Found a beautiful trail along side the river it’s only about five minutes from my house didn’t even know it was there before. Also found the canoe launch in our town. So I’m looking forward to having our first adventure in the kayak. The kayaks out in the yard, I’m getting her used to sitting in it For right now.

I couldn’t agree more with this video. We try to give our 8 month old lab as many different experiences as possible. We have a couple of issues with her though. Her manners are not so good and she eats everything. Any help with getting her to stop eating everything in site.

What can you do if you do not have all these obstacles set up at your home? Take them to a park? What sort of obstacles do you think are best if one was to go out and purchase? I notice a picnic bench is used a lot, would that be a good piece of equipment to help with training?
@aabradley826 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Wendell just think outside of the box. Not sure what your situation is, but my pup goes a lot of places with me and I always try to find things that he can climb on or slide down. Park benches, rocks, downed trees, you just have to look at the things around you from a different perspective. Stonnie has been working with me & my dog for a while now and I am fortunate enough to live in the country, but don’t have access to a fancy agility course, but I do have access to farm land with fields, ponds, forests, granite boulders, and logging roads. I mostly look at things and ask myself, will my dog have fun walking or climbing onto that.
@nicholaswendell93066 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thank you for the outside the box perspective. I think I have some stuff around my property that I can put to good use.

I have an 8 week old golden. She is still not consistent to come when I call. Should I wait till she's more reliable to come before I let her off leash in the woods? Im nervous to let her explore to much
@andrewbade77846 жыл бұрын
I know I'm not Stonnie, but I would say you should let your dog spend some time off leash. Even if the recall isn't great, at that age dogs tend to be clingy so they wont run off, and even if they do run off they are too slow and clumsy to get very far if you pay attention. Now when your dog is getting to around 5 months if she doesn't listen that's a totally different story. . .
