How I wish there were more trainers like you that make training fun and no,punishment. It leads to a dog that wants to keep trying with enthusiasm and that is worth its weight in gold.

My 19 week GSD puppy and I found our own small challenges course while walking today. It's a bunch of random exercise equipment built near a walking path not far from where I live. Lots of metal/wooden bars and planks at various heights and some boulders to climb on. I had my puppy jump over the lower bars and put her front paws on the higher ones. She really seemed to enjoy it. There was one low metal plank for her to walk across, at first she wasn't sure what I wanted her to do with it but eventually she got all 4 paws on it and got a treat. On the way back she wanted to try again and walked the length of it like she'd been doing it all her life. I was really proud of her, think I'll be taking her there more often now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Great videos! I almost feel guilty they are free. Do you recommend English or American type Labs? Don't hunt but very active and looking for the healthiest version I can. I have heard American (Field types) are more prone to ACL/CCL problems. What are some pros and cons that you see in each?

I watch your channel for tips on my 2yr old English Lab. Last weekend I was at a farm event in PA and a lady had her puppy near my dog and she flipped when my lab went eagerly to sniff. She hollered “they said no more than 3 seconds.” I said “who” she replied smugly...”my trainer.” I never herrd that in all my days. In this video when that dog is going up steps you mention when will they ever learn new things. What’s your take on the 3 second rule that lady proclaimed??
@campingalan5 жыл бұрын
Awesome video, as always!! 2 more days till picking up puppy. Now my brain is like "oh mannnn….I hope I can remember all that Stonnie said"!! When in doubt, I'll just go out and do some $h*t with the dog....and I know it will be fun for both.

How old is the black lab ? I have a fawn(golden) labrador back here in India. 8.5months old weighing nearly 24kg. I keep him fit by giving him walks almost 5 times in a day and nearly amounting to 3km a day. And yes my lab is a vegetarian. I dont feed him chicken meat or so. Curd, Rice, and so.e typical indian food which keeps his stomach healthy.
@TheRedbirdfly3 жыл бұрын
Im sorry but I'm a vegetarian also but your dog is NOT! You are creating some long term health issues by not feeding meat. Raw beef and liver/heart are best Also raw chicken feet is great for collagen and calcium. I hope you do some unbiased research on the subject for the sake of your pet. They also need a vitamin supplement, I use "meal mix" its on Amazon.

For my dogs “wait” essentially means wait a minute such as coming out of the car.”stay” means do not move until I either come back to you or decide you can move...if I leave a dog on a stay he should settle and not move..

Stonnie Dennis I live a condo in an urban environment. Australian Labradoodle Pup 13 weeks is expected to always be on a lead. I am taking him to a bike/walking path with strollers, joggers, bikes coming from behind and toward him plus outdoor gym equipment and playground. Learning to walk on loose lead and to meet and pass other dogs on leads without approaching them. It’s just not welcome. Perhaps you could take your dog or dogs to town with traffic and intersections, retail, restaurant, people and other dogs? I am using your training in my environment successfully but it would be great to see you and Mr No Name in the big city. :)
