Labrador suddenly stops and refuses to walk 😂

#shorts Zazu our Labrador loves to walk but he refuses to take new routes around the neighborhood. He suggests we take the same route every single time, if we don't he will start pulling the leash in the direction he wants to go.

They become so set in their ways. My lab would call you out if you sat at the dinner table too long or sat in the living room in other than your usual seat. At 9:30, she'd get up off the couch and march upstairs to bed. You could set a watch to it.

Hahaha that’s so funny. If it’s past 10pm Zazu will go up the stairs and give us that look like are you coming or what? If we continue to watch tv he will go and take over the whole bed by himself. I’ll have to record that one day 😂

Your dog was trying to tell you something. Possibly was wanting to show you something in the bush there where he stopped at. Dog's are very smart & will do many things to try communicate with us.

My Labrador is very stubborn as well, sometimes she doesn't wanna walk anywhere, at the beach or at the mountain she goes nuts running all the time, but at our home in the city she doesn't want to go anywhere, sometimes she just wants to stay in the middle of the path until someone smiles at her so she can go and say hello to them.

Vet assistant here; He needs a HARNESSES! you can really damage a dog's trachea by pulling on his neck sideways or from the back. FACT, it will collapse and they make horrible honking noises trying to breathe. It requires surgery and it's only a bandaid because it can't be fixed, only slightly relieved, and will have to have therapy for the remainder of its life. This is really bad for older dogs, it's safer to put them to sleep, because, a lot will die in surgery.

My labrador does this. I keep a bag of treats with me, and when she gets stuck and stubborn, I put a few bits out Hansel and Gretl style and she gets going again. Food is everything. :)

You need a head harness, it’ll make the walks a lot easier! I’m a dog trainer/behaviorist & head harnesses (gentle leaders) are a miracle worker for walk/leash issues when it comes to dogs.

I think sometimes it’s a temperament thing. My golden would do the same thing when I let the leash go, but in her later years she would just stay. I once had to experience a whole rain storm just because she found a comfy spot 😂

My Pittie does the same thing. New route, new smells so she will protest in order to allow her sufficient time to smell every freakin inch of said new route. If I try to keep going, she'll just sit down, stick her nose in the air and continue taking in all the smells. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Sometimes it's easier to give in and stop every couple feet rather than just standing in the same spot for ever. 😂

My dog is a lil bit of the opposite she doesn't like walks but she doesn't mind them she's 4 months old and i started walking her 3 days ago until now, she always bites the leash since the leash is on her collar and the collar keeps moving because its not tight (i dont want the collar to be too tight because it might hurt her)making the leash move around her face and she bites the leash and i worry because it might break and my dad won't like that 😃✋ She doesn't like it when she's alone so she doesn't have a choice but to take a walk outside although im sure when we do it more often she'll get used to it and she'll behave eventually when she gets older She will enjoy the walk when dad decides to join us walk since my dog is my dad's favorite, she's a bit scared when she walks since theres alot of dogs in our neighborhood and some of them bark making her scared so either she stays close to me and keep walking or stay still and make sad noises so i always have to pick her up and go past the barking dog and continue our walk 🤣🤣 She makes sad noises when walking because she want to be petted or picked up and go back home 💀 My dog is a medium ish size since she's 4 months old

My Lab recently began doing the same. Won’t budge till I take him in the direction he wants to go. Often this involves crossing the street, sometimes it only takes a few steps in his choice of directions and then he’s happy to go where I want to take him. Labradors get really set in their ways. My mother takes our dogs to work with her, and our old Labrador refused to get in the car with her once when she was heading out early, so she sent her back inside (she was only leaving briefly, she was only gone for an hour or two). They're funny damn dogs.
