Every once in a while, I'll turn to my 7 year old sister and say "You remind me of the babe." and she continues and we go throughout the whole thing every time. Lol, she never learns. I'm glad David Bowie got to be a part of her life, at least for a little while.

This is the behind the scenes I was looking for! I loved hearing Bowie's interpretation of Jareth, kind of revealing what Jareth wished he could do or be, and who he really was despite the grand title of a king, which was a big kid. So grateful that many great minds collaborated to make this amazing movie.

If this were made today, David would be on a blue screen set surrounded by digital puppeteers and it would be cgi’d to death. There’s something about physical presence that can’t be duplicated by computer

I think it really can't be said how much practical effects contribute to an actor's performance and dedication to their role. If Bowie had simply been in front of a green screen this whole time, he probably wouldn't have been as good as he was. He had something physical to act off of, something to work with. Something to help him see himself as Jared the Goblin King.
@GCJACK83 Жыл бұрын
The movie was absolutely perfect in it's filming and overall execution. It's one of those that despite that, it barely gets the attention it deserves. Henson and Bowie were also two of those rare breeds of genius whose mere existence changed how what they worked in was done for decades. Jim's legacy, and the workshop itself, are still actively advancing puppetry as well as CGI. They include CGI because Jim's son saw the similarities between a CGI character and a puppet.

Lamp Shade times change and you need to get used to it instead of whining. Shit is always changing and we are always learning. Things obviously weren't like the 60s in the 80s... of course in 2017 it's not like the 80s. It would be pretty pathetic and sad if we hadn't progressed since then. Grow up and move on instead of crying about how much you wish you could get away with.
@lampshade88187 жыл бұрын
Excuse me? I'm not 'whining', I don't need to 'grow up...' I bet you'd be a real laugh in the audience at a live comedy gig. You'd be balling your eyes out and throwing your nappy around every time the comedian says something that *offends* you. THAT'S 'pretty pathetic'.
