@theshillneckedlizard83643 жыл бұрын
Well, the character of Jareth isn't evil as such - he just has his own agenda. The novelization is interesting as it expands on his character a bit - he really does love Sarah and wants her to stay with him, he is genuinely fond of baby Toby, and he is tired of being Goblin King. That's part of the reason why his character is so intriguing - he isn't just a straight up 'baddie' but has some redeeming traits as well. Plus, if you watch the 'making of,' David had an absolute blast playing this role - he was having the time of his life and I think that shows through.

I’ve always loved this film and know the words to all the songs. I loved ludo when they got to the big of eternal stench ‘smell bad’ with fart noises 😂😂

I'm singing this song to my six week old baby to get her to sleep a lot at the minute. Sang it to her big brother a few years ago as well. :D

At 0:22 Jareth is clearly thinking 'that bloody baby won't stop crying. Well, I better bust out a spontaneous singing and dancing sequence, that'll calm him down'

At 5 I walked into my mom's room while getting ready for kindergarten (1994). That's when I was memorized by his beauty, the makeup, and costumes. That hasnt changed, I still get chills.

I think that's why there's no remake. How do you remake David Bowie? He is the Goblin King.

David Bowie MADE this movie, if not for him I don't think this movie would be as big of a cult classic as it is.

as he admits near the end of the movie, he is just a figment of her imagination and therefore all he's done she made him do. He's not a villain, but just teaching her about being a grown up.
@narliehs16489 ай бұрын
@@Kissfan96dr Being only a figment of Sarah's imagination would be rather impossible, wouldn't it? He and the other Underground characters had things going on all the time without her involvement or knowledge, like this scene here. Also of note is when he watches the reunion party from outside the window in his owl form at the end of the movie.

One of my favourite wholesome bits of trivia is that the actor playing the baby, Toby Froud, was the son of modelmaker and puppet designer Brian Froud, and Toby grew up to become a modelmaker and puppet designer/puppeteer himself. He worked on movies including Kubo and the Two Strings and the Guillermo del Toro stop-motion Pinocchio movie.

It scares me that they are trying to do a remake of this. How in the heck can that even be possible without David Bowie? I do not think it should ever happen without him....and sadly he is gone.

Both films have been known to elicit crushes on dead celebs. I fell in love with Jack Haley when I watched Oz, and I was determined to hide it, but then my little sister found out, and I felt terrible. I eventually became a fan of Karen Prell, and while I was researching her, I found this film. I was a little bit skeptical, and it was because I didn't want to end up getting a crush on David Bowie. Not even Jareth, because my sister already thinks liking Baron Humbert von Gikkingen is weird.
