Me and her are from the same town. She’s our little town celebrity now. Our entire town went absolutely crazy when she walked out and said where she’s from. We all were glued to our seats watching and waiting for her to come out. Some of us didn’t even watch the whole episode. We only wanted to see her. My family knows her mom but I don’t remember ever meeting her dad. Her and her mom are both super sweet people.

This audition was so memorable to me that I tracked it down not remembering her name. I love her authentic singing, playing combined with her natural(with a lil help😉👱‍♀️) beauty and sweet vulnerability. The part that breaks my heart is when Lionel says something like “If you understand how to hone in on Your Thing and don’t get psyched out about everybody elses thing, you’re gonna be OK” (aka Do You!)Lionel was So Correct. Katy’s first comment was “Hold on…I think If she can take the time and we can help MOLD HER..” Then as the show progressed I think they coaxed her to try different style songs and soon she was struggling to be this poppy popstar, lost the guitar and started singing contemporary pop songs, even dressing like a pop star and lost much of her genuine country identity. She still nearly won but I do believe she would have had a MUCH better chance of winning if she had stuck to her authentic style. I still Love Laci Kaye Booth as she is as sweet as Georgia peaches and the lady can Sing! Love Katy too!!🥰🙏

About teared up during the lead in when Dad was talking.. Then when she walked in to do her number and intros given, no one, judges or viewers were prepared for this young lady to take their hearts. From the first few bars I had Chicken Skin Deluxe. As Katy listened and looked at Lionel and Luke with that, Are We Understanding What We Have In Front Of Us look, I got my 2nd wave of extended Chicken Skin. When the judges began giving their critiques, which there wasnt much of, it was more like we are gonna polish this lil Diamond, who could very well be the next, American Idol type praises. She gets her ticket and along comes Dad, who is bursting with pride & love for his Baby Girl, and he says hello & thank you to the judges, then its off to get ready for that day that is already quickly approaching, and they set off on their trip to Hollywood, to become...
