I lived over on Roble in the early 2k's and I had my run ins with the Peterson's. Typical neighborly things, Laci would walk the dog at the park or trails nearby and she was a sweet young woman a bit older than I was. Scott on the other hand was an asshole, bigshot salesman with a new truck, hitting up the bars, I'd see him at the range on Yosemite from time to time he was an arrogant prick who belonged at Donobys. I was at work when I heard the news she was missing, both me and my buddy George (he lived nearby on Miller) had a suspicion, but not until he was caught trying to run off to Mexico a few months later was our suspicion confirmed.

I know what you mean. about Scott. my husband had work for the M.P.D. many years ago and still had friends on the force. Scott was a suspect right away and you weren't the only ones to suspect him. my husbands friend asked how to tell if he had taken his boat to the bay. he told him to check the engine on his little boat for sea water residue and they found what they were looking for. it was a long horrific investigation and Miss Frey was very courageous to come forward and work with the police to gather more evidence.

One thing i find weird especially after seeing the newest documentary on Netflix about the lacy case. That it seems like lacy had friends coming to help and talk good about her. But i havent seen anyone come and talk about scott. Except his family

Yeah, I was watching the news this week and they kept saying there was new evidence, but they didn’t disclose what that evidence was. It’s just using that old theory that the burglars who were in the neighborhood, snatched her up and killed her. That has never been proven. By the way, I was working on this video before I heard about the innocence project taking the case.

I was a bailiff in San Mateo County when Scott's trial came through. Watching and listening to the case each day, I really did have my doubts about his guilt. That was until his defense attorney brought Scott's boat in to show the jury. After seeing the boat and the man made anchor's, that doubt left my mind. I think Scott's attorney felt the same way because, the boat and those anchor's were never received in evidence nor did the jury ever see them.

The house across the street from the Peterson's was robbed the week prior to Laci going missing and on the day Laci disappeared she was seen standing out in the road with her dog talking to a couple of latino men. They were seen standing next to a white van that fit the description of a van seen in the neighborhood during the time of the robbery. Laci's dog was later found the same day roaming the neighborhood on a leash. There's also a jail phone conversation recording from someone else discussing a robbery and a pregnant woman getting killed that was highly suspicious.

@@gartwilliams3347 30 years of service I did it all. But it's clear to me you have no clue how laws, both civil and criminal work. There is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (criminal) and preponderance (civil). One needs to be be proven, without constance media coverage and their propaganda narrative. The other, need only needs a little weight to be proven (he was there / in the area). If you read my review, I weighed the case and the evidence I saw first hand and came to my conclusion. That's sort of like the Jeffrey Macdonald case in 1970. He killed his pregnant wife Collette, they had 2 little girls. ( Kimberly and Kristen) he murdered them too. Collette 's parents supported Jeffrey Macdonald at first too. Until things about their murderers didn't add up. Then Collette 's parents helped to put Jeffrey Macdonald behind bars. Where he still is to this day. Look it up, it's a very interesting story

Hi Jeff! Funny how history you post brings back so many memories for me. I remember both of those cases very well. Several things were uncanny in your video. You mentioned Downey High, I went there one year, then over to Beyer High. My Dad's brother lived 4 streets over from where Laci lived. In your video of the court room, I saw one of my cousins that was a sheriff working the court room. Finally, as you shot the Lakewood Cemetery scene, behind you, the tall pine trees in the distance, are the graves of my mom and dad. You sure hit home on that video. Such tragic events and you covered them well. Sorry those happened that you had them to cover.

Very sad stories. I grew up in Modesto and moved away a long time ago. At the time of Laci’s disappearance my brother told me of once talking with Scott at Minnie’s and Scott complained non-stop about his wife. My brother told him if he was so unhappy to get a divorce. Unfortunately, my brother has since died and I have more questions for him. In the summer of 1972 I met Gary Condit who was at the time running for mayor of Ceres. What an asshole. Love your History Hunters videos!

the only time we saw Gary was at the Ceres Cemetery on Memorial day.. his wife Caroline usually came with her father in law who would give the benediction as he was a local pastor. The story that her mother told about Scott not wanting children and Laci getting pregnant regardless, does shine a light on what was going on in that house. I wonder if Laci found out about Scott's affairs and thought having a baby would fix their problems? I do not know why someone like Scott would get married at all since he enjoyed sleeping around. I read earlier in the week that the Innocence Project was taking on Scott Peterson's case. It is my opinion they won't find anything that proves his innocence. The investigation back in 2002-2004 was very thorough and damning toward Peterson. Yes, a lot of circumstantial evidence, but a preponderance of it that no jury could come to any other conclusion other than guilty. How timely that you are doing this video about Laci and Conner. Thank you for bringing this history back to the forefront since there is interest in Peterson's case again. We must never forget Laci and Conner were the true victims....not Scott. Also...Chondra Levy...such a sad sad story. I actually did a 5K run in that very same park right around the time she came up missing but before she was declared so by her family. I can see how anybody could hide in the woods around the jogging trails there. After Chondra's case hit the 24 hour news cycle, I never went back to that park to jog ever again.

Two agonizing cases. Was riveted to each when they occurred. Thank you for telling their stories. I remember watching Scott Peterson on a channel 2 interview and when it ended the camera froze on his face before it went to the next story. I will never forget the evil in his expression in that freeze frame. It was almost like he said ok the interview is over, (very sympathetic sob story), so now my true personna is back. It gave me the chills as somehow it came through that he was a very evil person and I positively KNEW he was guilty. I told my wife this at that time (I'm signed in on her KZbin account). When the story about the innocence project showed the other day she reminded me of that moment. Very chilling! Thanks for yet another great posting Jeff. Thoroughly enjoy your content.

Oh Jeff. This was the hardest story I've seen from you.---On a lighter note, I was happy to learn of Harve's ties to the community. My folks were in Aspen the summer of '65, at a summer seminar for teachers (what a magical time for this 14 y/o!), and we went to the old theater to see The Unsinkable Molly Brown (Leadville was just over the pass from Aspen), & I was in love with Harve's voice ever since. I own the record (used to know all the words by heart, I listened to that record so many times!). I still occasionally pull up the Call the Wind Maria just for the sheer glory of seeing him & listening to that haunting melody. It was a shock to see him age, & when I first saw him on an episode of Star Trek Voyager, it took me quite a few stumped minutes to figure out why that character looked and sounded familiar! And of course, don't forget his role in FARGO.

Thank you for presenting this so beautifully. I’m disturbed by the recent stuff I see of Scott. I try to be unbiased in matters like this but I watched all of it. Modesto is a special place to me. I didn’t know Chandra was also from the area. I knew the Congressman was.

The cemetery where Laci and Connor are buried is beautiful and serenely peaceful. It is on River Road with an Escalon Address. The traffic sounds are alarming to me: I lived on River Road in Oakdale, a mile or two East of the cemetery. It sounds like River Road has a lot more traffic than it used to....but traffic is definitely off the tragic topic at hand here.

@@davidkneitel1840 that actually is a story that I probably will get to. In fact, I know one of the guys who was the first officers on scene and figured out where the bus was. He has agreed to talk to me.

@jbenziggy ,interesting. Can't wait. It's a chilling story, for sure. Thank you for your reply. Have you ever thought about doing a symposium at a high school or college. There are so many historical moments throughout communities here and abroad. We must always remember the past, all a while, building a better tomorrow.

This happened when I was like 12 and had just moved into the Modesto area from the Bay Area. I remember seeing her missing person sign posted everywhere we went. When I grew up, I knew kids who had said she was their substitute teacher. Thanks for covering! …especially now since the innocence project took Scott Peterson’s case.

I'm not a Scott Peterson fan but I do have a close friend who works with the Innocence Project, and they usually don't take a case unless there is substantial evidence proving innocence..we will have to wait to see what happens.

Another excellent episode. Shocking it's been 21 years. My momma had just passed away and we went to Vegas for Christmas to get away...only to see this story on the news. Imagine Laci's family when they met with the horror. He's a true evil person, I am sad for Laci's family having to even think he's getting help. Narcissists love attention. Chandra Levy fell prey to a predator who had to do away with her once things got sticky. Sad.
