@@brianfleming1954 Wait, I don't get it, are you responding to the "Lacks Racial Diversity" mentioned in the title or are you responding to other people's comments? Hari's opening joke is about how there are no Black people in the movie & that they're all white. So, they did not explicitly say the movie was racist, but they did call it homophobic, sexist, and described the noose on the locker as "a hate crime". For clarification on my position: I love both The Breakfast Club & Hari Kondabolu, and agree with all of the criticism that they brought to the film.

What's next, lack of racial diversity in Bollywood or Chinese cinema? Make your own content and stop trying to control other people.
@MCAndyT3 жыл бұрын
Actually, kinda yeah. Like a LOT of Bollywood films are super colorist and feature paler skinned northerners rather than darker skinned actors from other regions. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Shah Rukh Khan, but the blockbuster films highlight a certain "look" that does not showcase the immense diversity within India...

Lack of demographic honesty in every woke modern movie/TV commercial. Can We Talk About That
@DLZ20003 жыл бұрын
Demographic honesty can only be graded in the context of all the rest of the media that's been made. So, one commercial with an interracial couple isn't going to be dishonest because we only see two people on screen. Guess what, when you take a look at the rest of commercials made over the past 80 years, the ratio is still woefully unrepresentative. Even if you narrow it to the past year or two, a couple of BIPOC in commercials, movies, or TV shows isn't going to make a dent, especially if those BIPOC are just like there to say, "Would you like fries with that?" and aren't actual characters with personality traits, backstories, and arcs.
@YellowJello573 жыл бұрын
@@DLZ2000 Ridiculous that you think the last 80 years have to be taken into account. If that were tenable, every piece of media in largely white America would need to be artificially contrived to contain only POC to redress the supposed imbalance. Much as the left would like this to happen, the public has no appetite for this kind of BS. If you make an ad or a movie today, it should reasonably contain a POC or mixed race couple with the approximate frequency that these things occur in society today otherwise it's nothing but woke pandering. Of course, the critical-theorists will not be happy until the US is destroyed so there's essentially no point in arguing/engaging with them on these issues.

@@YellowJello57 the past few centuries artificially inflated white representation, so I don't think a few scant decades of balancing things out would destroy anything.

(for a brief 2 semesters, I went to a suburban HS in the suburbs, one of a handful of kids with melanin. Imagining a bunch of white kids in a space with no person of color wasn't far fetched but I also never saw myself as any of the characters. It was John hughes silliness and not that good actually. Better teen movies of the period: Visionquest, Stand by Me, My Bodyguard.
