Thanks so much! I understand. Start small. I was totally overwhelmed when I started and afraid to really get into an engine. Start with small cheap stuff and work your way up. You can do it!

Nice! I’ve been sitting through the ads which I usually don’t do. Hopefully you get a little more $. One in the middle of this was nearly 4 min long! Haha

I can't believe how much of your roster sits in my basement. It seems that nearly every video I watch has an engine or cars that I have. Christmas 1956 I was 9 years old, and received that very same engine from my parents, along with a #60 trolley, black paint lettering, from my brother. I still have them. Trainmaster is THE MOST POWERFUL engine ever. Once I had 70 or 80 cars behind it, no problem. Except for MPC couplers popping open.

Okay- I was genuinely shocked on just how quiet it ran. Cleaning can make one hell of a difference in postwar models.

I was shocked too. People say postwar engines can’t run slow and relatively quiet, but a really good thorough cleaning does wonders!

Great video as I own the lackawanna & Jersey central. I can now service my engines, 1954 &1955 respectively. Thank you.

After watching this and your F3 video, I kept agonizing, trying to use telepathy to reach you through a time warp: "Naval Jelly for the rust you can't get off and soak your trucks in a bath of paint thinner, rotate axles, scrub with old toothbrush, and repeat until a fresh bath shows no dark effluent; that'll get the stuff out of the areas you can't reach as well as clean the stuff you can, all in a fraction of the time and effort you are expending and you'll get a better job." I am completing an identical job, drilled out the fuel tank rivets, then used the remnants of the rivets to center my drill for 4-40 machine screws. I tapped the holes and bolted it right back on, using the rivets as guides, just as you did. After the nuclear war, it'll be rats, roaches and my Trainmaster left to rule the world. My money's on the Trainmaster. I really like your videos and your approach of fixing old stuff and making it new again. Bravo!

Thank you! I love all the recommendations that I never thought of, making videos like this one also help me learn new ways to complete the tasks. I usually just use what I have on hand so Im sure there are many things that would work better. I finally picked up some Evaporust recently and I’m excited to try it out. I have another Trainmaster I picked up cheap and it’s all rusted, everywhere, but it still runs and pulls amazingly, those engines are the best!

Thats one heck of a locomotive. I have to do the same thing ( with the motor) on my 736 berk. Its due for a good deep cleaning and lube. I appreciate your videos.

@@stever.5092 thank you very much for the kind words, I really appreciate the feedback. The 736 Berkshires are awesome engines as well, even better after a cleaning! These old trains were built so well, if you don’t mind taking the time and effort to maintain them, they should last for a very long time. Thanks for watching!

David - inspiring. I will thoroughly clean mine. I also will m.u. them; some interesting wiring from one to the other. I will also use only one e unit (the idea comes from your Erie PA project).

Wish you would have spent a little more time on the wiring or rewiring of the FM I have one all the wiring is gone. You kinda skipped over the wiring part with the e-unit and horn relay
@dagryffynhobby
@dagryffynhobby Жыл бұрын
I don’t remember what I focused on in the this video, I inadvertently skip over stuff sometimes because of doing all of it so much. The wiring is basically all the same regardless of engine, but you are right, I should include all of it.
