So disheartening seeing some people disrespect the efforts of people who have dedicated their lives to serve our country in the capacity they are capable to. The Air Force has a special operations just like any other branch with a rigor that is undeniable. Thank you to all the service men and women.❤️

I joined in 1967, to avoid the army. Glad I did. Did nothing but warm a chair for my entire enlistment, hence the term "Chairforce", which I hadn't heard of until this decade. My basic training was nothing as shown in the video. Did a lot of running and puking, but that was it, other than basic PT. No camies issued. Got to shoot an M16 - once. Birds and canines woke me up every morning while in basic training - hated it. After basic, it was a joy to be on the base, especially for me was the photographic darkroom, and the civilian-run (not mess hall) cafeteria on base. Great hamburgers!

Funny there’s no yelling going on..I went in in 81 and from the time you get off the bus the di was yelling.. it looks like the kids are getting much more rifle training than we had..90% of the time they had us marching around the base..it’s an experience I think every kid should go through..memories you never forget..
@highstakes9696Ай бұрын
They don't capture much of the yelling on video. I went back in July of 2023. We absolutely got hammered with MTIs yelling so often they would lose their voices. Had a guy pace out right after getting of the bus, he had a panic attack. Definitely still yelling. Just not a lot of coursing.
@wetnoodlex22 күн бұрын
Yeah, there's a big difference when you're trying to present yourself as attractive to the nation at large. What kid these days want to enlist knowing they'll be yelled at? They get enough of that at home. Now after they swear in and show up with the fastest way out being them finishing the course, without a camera crew behind them, that's when they get chewed out.

This was great video for those joining in the future. I actually enjoyed it. I am a retire Marine with 22 years. I actually understood every word out of the instructors mouths. The hair cuts were given very politely. We learned at a faster pace and in a very violent manner. My experience at Parris Island differed quite a bit from this video. There is no way to get around the sinus clear out of the gas chamber. We all have to get from day one to graduation and it doesn't just happen. Go get at it Airmen. Earn your title.

I graduated from there in 1973. Much more hands on work with the M16 now. When I was on the firing line we had guys behind us with weapons and we were told if we stood up we risked a chance of bing shot as someone had before us and discharged their weapon killing an instructor and someone else.

After graduating I spent two weeks in holdover as an orange rope. When I volunteered for receiving, there was this space force dude screaming at the new incomers like he was an MTI. After being told to knock it off, he immediately continued as they were apparently “disrespecting him” (I was near the front desk speaking with my old MTI, so not entirely clear on what happened). What WAS clear is he got recycled back into 6th week. Still remember the expression while packing up his locker at the TRSS, funny as hell

Spent my time there in July 84' - I think a lot of kids going in the military today are more about the paycheck with a lack of jobs, versus doing it for their country. It's not like it use to be but now we have adults working at mcdonalds and kids can't even find jobs, so the military is the only option for many.
