For those wondering how long the batteries in the outdoor unit would last: They went out January 29th, so that is about three months. We did have some below zero temps, but don't know if that was a factor.

can lithium batteries be used? that's what are in my cameras and they have gone over two years - even with freezing temps
@rogersshop3 жыл бұрын
@@noneyerbidness Yes. However, extreme cold does affect this type of battery.

How come it connected to your wifi yet you said u had not installed theapp yet, weird?

I already had the app and software from another weather station. I monitor 3 stations, in different locations.

Should the anemometer flash as soon as batteries are inserted? I did notice it flashing occasionally when it was installed outside. I now have it in the house because it is no longer working and doesn't flash at all
@rogersshop3 жыл бұрын
I had to go look.........Yes, the LED does blink every so often. If yours is new, I would contact LaCrosse.

@@rogersshop Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately mine is a couple of years old. I guess it has finally died

Not a bad little unit, did you play with your old one and get it to work?
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
The old one had deteriorated pretty bad from the years of sun exposure and the plastic was so brittle that I ended up just getting rid of it.

Hey Roger, I just bought this unit, snd cannot figure out how to change the day, time and date. Nothing I can find in the minimal set up sheet. Sure would appreciate it. I actually have a brand new LaCrosse model 3610 I bought at a garage sale about 8 years ago, never put together. The wind system isn’t cups, it’s a little 2” inches propellor inside a cage with a wind vane on top. No wifi, actually used a los power radio transceiver. It also is the black and white lcd monitor. But the wind isn’t even close, so I got this model today, and will get the rain sensor later.

Hold down the set button for about three seconds. The display will then start to flash. Each time you then press set, the item to set will change. Use the + and - buttons to change the setting, then press set to move to the next item.

@@rogersshop thanks a bunch!! I actually asked my two year of and he told me how to do it! Not really, but sometimes I feel these kids know more about electronics than we do!!! Actually I accidentally found out there was a real manual on the La Crosse home page, and got it figured out. Now to figure out why I’m getting the no connection on the base. Saying it’s not connected to the La Crosse View App, but the app is getting data from the base. Maybe I’ll ask my 4 yr old granddaughter this time!! Thanks for the answer though!

Nice video. Be interesting to know how long the battery lasts before it needs to be changed.

I will post an update once this has been in use for a while. So far, it has performed as advertised. My previous unit had a solar cell and Ni-Cad battery. But, the battery never lasted for more than a year before needing replacement.

Does it indicate wind direction??
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
No. This model does not.
@margueritecox36454 жыл бұрын
We bought one of these exactly and the wind direction is not correct and we can not find where we can change it. We are saying ssw on the viewer but the wind is NNE. It says it is controlled by the NWS but not how to change it, also we do not follow daylight saving time but the time will not change.
@rogersshop4 жыл бұрын
Might want to contact La Crosse on that. I am not an expert on this, by any means. My install went without a hitch and it works perfect (until covered with ice).

I bought a wind speed sensor this fall and after a few months I can say it is a poor design. Every time we get some snow it stops spinning because of the way it is designed. Currently our local airport 6 miles away has gusts to 28MPH and we are reading 0MPH and our heavy sewn flag is whipping in the wind. The cone on top of the housing needs to be longer without a flat place to collect snow.

I can't determine how to get it to display the wind direction. Apparently you must not care about that.
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
This particular model does not indicate direction. I have since replaced this with a different brand with more features. Mostly because of the short battery life (about three months and a hassle to change)

I clicked on this because I wanted to see how to set the day date and time correctly.
