Going to Ladakh was always a dream for me and I never knew that I would decide to go to Ladakh in extreme winter. The winter season in Ladakh is very harsh and definitely not recommended for everyone. The cold season starts in October and lasts till February, with the temperature dropping as low as -34°C. I went to Ladakh in December 2020 and stayed there for over 2 weeks during which I explored all the famous and tourist places to visit in Leh, monasteries in Ladakh, Tso Moriri Lake, Khardungla Pass, and many more such places. I even got a chance to interview the brother of the first Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) recipient from Ladakh.
Ladakh is a newly formed Union Territory region administered by India. It is bordered by the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh to the south, Tibet Autonomous Region to the east, and the Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan to the west and the southwest corner of Xinjiang across the Karakoram Pass in the far north. I stayed in Leh and then took a tour to all the places by hiring a car. Leh is the largest town in Ladakh. Since the culture and history of Ladakh are very much related to that of Tibet, it is also known as the "Little Tibet". It is also called the "Land of High Passes".
This video is just the trailer and there would be 8 dedicated episodes from "Places To See In Ladakh" in this series following this trailer. I have also documented the life of Ladakhi during winter in this series which you would get to watch in the next episode.
