I've had mine for 15+ years - the best investment for safely working on my gutters and roof. I feel so secure as the ladder stays in place even when getting onto the roof. I had to take mine apart for moving purposes and this video allowed me to put it back on again. Thank you so much for this video. The directions on the ladder are all worn so couldn't follow them. Anyone who doesn't buy one of these when getting on a ladder is crazy. It's like driving without a seatbelt.

I just tried to assemble this stabilizer. It came with 4 U bolts. A small pair and a large pair. The L shaped bracket is called a guide angle bracket. Then It comes with two stabilizer brackets. One the first picture it shows to install the L angle brackets like you did. Then on the second picture the angle brackets are not in the picture. It shows the stabilizer brackets being used in lieu of the angle brackets. Then in every other picture it shows the angle bracket again. The instructions give no explanation as to why there is an angle bracket and a stabilizer bracket. No explanation for the 4 U shaped bolts either. I bought this at Menards. This is the second time that something like this has happened.

I think the directions indicate it is for aluminum ladders only. The fiberglass ladder rails are thicker and the brackets do not fit. It’s dangerous to use it on that style of ladder!

I notice that the fiberglass ladder edges fold over to the outside of the ladder while the aluminum fold over to the inside. The right angle notch was made to fit over the edge not the flat side.

The open space on that ladder, like mine, is on the outside. The clip has a projection that will not fit on the inside side flat surface. I had to put it outside. .

should you put it about 3 bars down so you have something to grab when your getting off the roof

I do agree with that if one is using it to get on the roof. I had mine 2 rungs down, but at 73 I don't think I'll be getting on the roof again.

There is some confusion about the u-bolt fitting which is due to the depth of the side rail being greater on a fiberglass ladder. It seems that a longer bolt is all that's needed but I also don't trust the length of the L bracket as it only covers about 40% of the rung. Does anyone know if the material strength matters given the added stress on the fiberglass? Is that another reason not to use it on fiberglass?

This stabilizer is for use on werner aluminum ladders only you need the quickclick for fiberglass

What can you I do if the U-bolts are too short? I searched for a website to see if I was setting it up incorrectly and your demo verified I was. The bolts are simply too short. The Engineer was saving threads for a shorter U-bolt screw thus saving cost. The idiot forgot to include variation in width of the ladder manufacturer. I have over 3 decades of manufacturing engineering and I’ve seen this case all to often. The idiot could have left three additional threat that would have been more than a half a penny in cost

That stabilizer is made for an aluminum ladder, not the Fiberglass ladder

Is that because of the size of the bolt or the material strength? I don't trust that L bracket only covering 40% of the step either. @@michaelquade7157

It measures 1-1/2 inch on each side, so 6" total
