The best casting ever done for any TV series ever. Even the smaller roles are perectly casted (Keith, Donna, Finchy etc). There will never be a better and funnier comedy series. Gervais and Merchant are geniuses.

It's weird how all this ended. One went on to host the Oscars, and did a series in which he is dead, another ended up on a Caribbean pirate ship, and another became a hobbit, found a ring, and that caused all sorts of bother. Pretty consequential sitcom.

This is the reason why most people under 30 don’t like the Uk office and prefer the American version. Those of us working around the turn of the millennium or before recognise the work culture. Las , gay jokes , drinking culture, moron bosses etc. now the office culture is about well-being, wfh, checkins, diversity, inclusivity etc. to the younger generation this series doesn’t work as a mockumentary as it doesn’t reflect real life.
