The UK version is awkward, sad, and depressing (in s good way), the US version is much more upbeat and doesn't deal with downer moments. Both are still funny in different ways.

and its more real moments in the UK version. USA version is just a sitcom version of the office. So many things happen in the US version that would just never happen. UK version everything CAN happen which makes the doco seem more real and helps with suspension of disbelief.

The reason the english version is better is because it perfectly parodies brits in the workplace it was meant to be a funny mocumentary which it does flawlessly all the characters in the office have existed in real life and all the scenarios have happened in real life, it also has an amazing love story with very subtle events that carry very deep emotions e.g. when dawn begs Tim for a kiss for a quid the kiss has a powerful effect on both and tim subsequently leaves his g f as a result

Exactly - the reason it was a smash hit is that everyone who works in an office could relate to the characters - even if they were extreme versions of people they worked with. US Office was great too, but the real genius came from the initial idea for the show...the UK version. Can't fault Steve Carell, though. He was brilliant.

The original British version of The Office is still the best TV show. I remember that it was premiered here in America and it was on BBC America on January 23rd, 2003, and it was the first British TV show that ever won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy.

The office and the office us were completely different which is why I love them both. In the office you see British comedy, dark, dry and beautiful where as in the us you get it completely different comedy which is so brilliant. I adore both series for different reasons.

No one realises how important Jamie is. He swaps Secret Santa with Tim in the finale. This allowed Tim to give her the paints and make her come back. Had Jamie not swapped with Tim, he and Dawn would never have ended up togeher.

Lets put it this way, watching the US Office is like going to McDonalds: the food is cheap and dirty, but, at the end of the meal, you feel satisfied; watching the UK Office is like drinking a glass of fine wine: you have to taste it, smell it, catch the subtleties of the fragrance and appreciate the quality of it. Both versions are hilarious, but the Uk Office is just on another level and the series only have twelve episodes (two seasons), but, in my opinion, those few episodes are totally superior to the 6935483739 episodes of the US Office.
