They are exactly like the boats of 20 years ago, but with evolutionary improvements in materials n techniques...my 1987, ame400 vinyl Ester skater, still an amazing. Work of fiberglass art... what these videos show is how incompetent most of these boat owners are...these lady "captain" was going alittle too slow, and needs to work the throttles, better angle, etc...watch the real fishermen, and performance boaters, often they drive with more awareness n control. And yes, you can break any boat...I see too many throttle choppers falling into the wave troughs and not using their heads to properly trim n drive too timidly, over their heads...and these bow rider morons, stuffing the bow loaded with idiots and the so called captain?lol is alone at the helm, allowing it! Why go out that inlet, when u don't have to...I have a skater, owned a velocity, pantera...and a closed deck sportboat, deep cockpit, secure bolsters, built motors than can be hammered on is the best way to cruise 39 to 50 miles c each way in south florida waters and not some glorified lake boat or overloaded cc, or bowrider pos.

I wouldn't give enough credit to some of those guys with their expensive toys to call them "captains". Sure, it's exciting when someone offers you a ride on a boat, esp. a nice one, and it's the same with exotic cars, motorcycles and small aircraft. You have to use your brain, ask questions, and actually be concerned with safety before you venture out with anyone who you probably are already fully aware of, is not the most mature, or responsible person to be taking others' lives for granted. Every responsible "captain" not only gives a run through, what is expected, what folks should do, or not do, makes sure that safety equipment fits, and is used, but ascertains who might not be suitable, and most importantly, know what the conditions are in advance. There are certainly a lot of overpaid, immature boys out there who are out of their league as "captains". Owners, more like it.
