Lady Franklin's Lament

I just finished listening to Erebus on audio, written and read by Michael Palin, and at the end of the book he mentions a song about the NW Passage. I found another ballad about the Franklin Expedition, and I decided to triple-down on making myself sad about Sir John. Hope you enjoy.

Mícheál Ó Domhnaill is the brilliant singer, accompanied by his sister, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill. Kevin Burke played the fiddle. All came from the legendary (at least to folkies) Bothy Band.

Unless you are from the ulster area in northern ireland, you probably don't have any ancestry in common with Francis Crozier, just to let you know. Not many of his kin emigrated to the US, other Croziers did of course, just not anyone closely related to the Captain

Having known their studio version for decades, one of my sweetest KZbin discoveries years ago was a live performance by Michael O'Domhnaill & Kevin Burke. I just clicked it because it said Lady Franklin - as it was originally known - with Hind's image. Thank you for this. Tidbit for those who know or don't - Franklin the song is the foundation of Bob Dylan's Dream. And Franklin the man is referenced in Stan Rogers' glorious Northwest Passage. I wish KZbin still allowed edits to I could add links !
