This was a such an interesting listen for me. I liked and loved a lot of these songs, it was just hard to do in this format. I wanted to be dancing and jumping around with all the rock/electronic pop elements in this thing. With that being said, the highs on this album are through the roof some of them include Judas, You and I and Edge of Glory. It was a fun and powerful listen! If you enjoyed the video, leave a like! Have a beautiful day!

The German that she speaks in the song is actually gibberish, which is the whole point of the song. Whenever people tell Gaga that she can’t be a strong woman, it all just sounds like gibberish, or bullshit/scheiße, to her.

When she performed BTW at the Super Bowl, it was the first time anyone mentioned the LGBT on a stage like that! For Scheiße, she doesn’t actually speak German. All the words she saying are fake made up gibberish words that just sound like German. She uses that as a way to show people think of talking about women’s empowerment. You listen, you get it, but it doesn’t mean anything unless you understand everything behind it and how some people just listen and don’t care to actually do anything about it. Just like without looking it up, you’d be thinking Gaga is speaking German, but she really isn’t. Just like how you can call yourself a feminist/egalitarian/equal rights activist without actually doing any research into what you’re saying which could inevitably harm the community. It’s also a very heavy europop centric song so it’s an homage to the style of europop that was very very prevalent in Germany when she came up with the song the day after she partied in Berlin.

A lot of songs that you liked are inspired by her ex lover Lüc Carl, the nebraska guy from 'Yoü and I'. The same whisky mouth from 'Heavy Metal Lover'. She was very in love with him, she could never had loved a man so purely, as she sings in 'Judas'. Rumor has it that he couldn't cope with Gaga's artistry, he didn't believe in her, always bringing her down. He told her that she would never be a star. She said: “I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song, and that he hoped I’d fail. I said to him, ‘Someday, when we’re not together, you won’t be able to order a cup of coffee at the fucking deli without hearing or seeing me.” 😎

“Government Hooker” is one of my favorite songs from Gaga. But I do agree that the album is sonically a bit too stretched out and some of the songs are too busy. This might be her best album. While it’s likely the most ambitious and eclectic mainstream pop album from a popular artist perhaps over the last couple decades.

There is a version of the album with more songs sprinkled throughout, which are a little softer (Black Jesus + Amen Fashion, Fashion of His Love, The Queen) which break the album up a little bit more. But ‘Born This Way’ is definitely an album that is very loud, proud and fast-paced.

It's only the 17th album to sell a million in a week since SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991, and the highest sales week since 2005. It also debuted #1 on United World Chart and stayed 8 weeks at the summit. Snatched multiple GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS including "Fastest Selling Single to reach #1 on iTunes"

i know this video is a year old at this point but i think when also viewing born this way you need to take a second to put it into the culture. gaga was on top of the WORLD at the release of born this way. she was coming off of the high of all of the singles and success of the fame monster, and was wrapping up the hugely successful monster ball 2.0 world tour. gaga was at her peak and completely unavoidable. the singles off of this album were massive. there's a lot of drama about the sales for the album because amazon was selling it for .01 for a few days or something but who cares. this album changed pop culture

In a lot of the Born This Way music you will see a lot more of the meaning if you watch the music videos! Notes to Scheiße: She uses fake German here (most of it is just gibberish). At the time she had a very large fanbase in Germany and she showed that it doesn't matter what languages we speak, we can still have a connection to her and her music. If you ever listen to ARTPOP, look out for references to this song in Gypsy. Notes on The Edge Of Glory: She wrote this song when her grandpa passed away and she saw her grandparents still being in love till the very end. "The Edge Of Glory" is your last moment on this earth. Also, it's funny how you think of long blond hair while listening to Hair but me as an og Gaga fan think of teal hair or a bald head.
@fujita.8169

Scheiße is basically just a fake German. Scheiße means "shit" in German and that song is about women empowerment. She explained on an interview that when women speak or when she speak, men just hear "bullshit" and not what they actually wants to say. So in a way, the gibberish part of Scheiße is just playing around thaat context.

Some fun facts! - "Marry the Night" is about embracing the times in life when you feel down. The music video is the first one that Lady Gaga directed by herself. Gaga has said the song was inspired by one of the worst days of her life, when she was dropped from her first record label, Def Jam. Because of additional scenes in the music video, it's heavily implied she also had an abortion at this time after being sexually assaulted. (Her hospitalized character in the intro is seen recovering in an all-women's ward and is instructed not to have sex for a number of weeks; a subsequent scene shows her being undressed and wearing an adult diaper.) - "Bad Kids" is based on the stories she heard from fans who would share their lives with her. In many cases, they were all misfits in some way or another. Maybe they were a "brat" or a "punk" but in some way they were all labeled "bad kids", but they found solace in her music. So the "my parents tried, til they got divorced" line is likely referring to those stories as well, since her parents are still very much married. - Themes of LGBTQ+ equality and immigration are mentioned throughout the album, most notably in "Americano" ("we fell in love, but not in court", "i don't speak your Jesus Christo, I don't speak your Americano") and "Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)" - "she don't care if your papers or your love is the law" - The title track was reportedly written in just ten minutes, with Gaga referring to the process as an "immaculate conception". - Gaga has said that "Heavy Metal Lover" was her favorite song to write and record for the album. - During the lead-up to the album, Gaga had a series of vlogs called "Gagavision" documenting her process, during which some in-progress versions of songs such as "Bad Kids" and "Bloody Mary" can be heard in the background. - The album had its fair share of controversy, between the lead single and album being heavily censored or banned in some countries due to its LGBTQ and feminist references, and a number of conservative critics taking issue with Gaga's use of religious imagery and releasing "'Judas" so close to Holy Week and Easter. - Concerning "The Edge of Glory", Gaga said in an interview that it's about "when my grandma was standing over my grandfather while he was dying. There was this moment where I felt like he had sort of looked at her and reckoned that he had won in life. Like, 'I'm a champion. We won. Our love made us a winner.'" So it's about accepting your mortality and facing the unknown with the one(s) that you hold the dearest. - IIRC, Clarence Clemons' last televised performance before his death was when Lady Gaga performed "The Edge of Glory" with him on American Idol. (He provided saxophone on both the original track as well as "Hair".)

"Scheisse/Scheiße" was a song inspired by her trips to germany and the techno scene here, as the electronic beats are typical berlin style back then .. and to further that reminiscence of germany she replicates thaose fragments of german she can recall (which put together into "words" and even phrases make noooooooooooo understandable sense at all xD) Scheiße is the only truely functional word in the lyrics, basically it's "shit", just in the german way, close to "shite"

At the time more people knew what the songs were commenting on. And that changes the way you hear songs like Americano, Hair, ScheiBe and so on, which some people might feel sound similar or something. Those are also the growers. As for You and I, it isn't necessarily the best vocally, it can just come through stronger because there's less beat.
