And this was her DEBUT album! She came out of the gate running! Yes Paper Gansta is about Def Jam records because they signed her in 2006 and dropped her just 3 months later, not allowing her to use any music she'd made with them, so she had to start again from scratch. But she got the last laugh because they really fumbled the bag on that one... she BLEW UP in 2008 and all her singles the next two years were smash hits
@ellaellaeheheh10 ай бұрын
Paper Gangsta is about how Gaga was signed to Def Jam by L.A Reid but dropped 3 months after being signed. Gaga would wait for hours outside Reid's office to discuss the direction of her music but he never took the time. He said himself that he regrets dropping her and rightfully so.
@ernansandoval8 ай бұрын
That’s somewhat true but she was signed with def jam already. But def jam wanted her to use a lot of autotune because they thought she didn’t have a good singing voice so before releasing her album they ended up dropping her
@ellaellaeheheh8 ай бұрын
@@ernansandoval Somewhat? It is true and I don't understand what you mean by already signed. That's obvious, no? Also, I'm aware, it's why she sang it with heavy autotune on the Monster Ball 1.0.
@xoxoryan581110 ай бұрын
Kid Cudi actually joined Gaga on some dates of her monster ball tour and performed Make Her Say, that’s the duet that can only happen in 2009

And nobody understood what she was singing in that Poker Face post-chorus, even iTunes missed it and didn’t mark the song explicit, only ONE radio station reached out to her and asked her to make a censored version.
@GhostlyEcheveria9 ай бұрын
I don't listen to pop music. I think most of it is boring and lacks creativity/originality, BUT when Lady Gaga debuted I was intrigued. I actually love this album. I also think the fact that Poker Face is still played on the radio uncensored is iconic. People had no idea she wasn't saying "poker face" the second time. There are a few songs from The Fame Monster that I enjoy. I enjoyed Chromatica way more than I thought I would. I wasn't expecting real house music tracks on a Gaga album. Her producers knew exactly what they were doing on Chromatica.

Rob Fusari, RedOne, Lauriann Gibson (her choreographer back in the early years), and her hunger for fame was peak Gaga.
@DK-sd7cx10 ай бұрын
For a solid decade, Kanye and Gaga were my 2 favorite artists, and the fact that most people miss the creative connections between the 2 of them always intrigues me. Me and like 8 friends bought tickets to the Fame Kills tour, was pissed when it was cancelled. One thing to know is that Gaga is a performance artist through and through, and her music, especially “The Fame” and “Fame Monster” should be interpreted as tongue-in-cheek. That’s why it comes across so extremely shallow and vapid, because she was making fun of how a lot of pop music at the time sounded.

Martin Kierszenbaum is a producer and songwriter and he had a pseudonym called Cherry Cherry Boom Boom which is why Gaga references that a few times on her songs (where he had involvement in at least). He also has Cherrytree Records under which I believe her first 2-3 albums were involved with. Edit: it's been heavily speculated and rumored that it was Rob Fusari that he was the one that sexually abused her while they were working together. She has never named him outright but long standing fans have kinda put the pieces and timeline together on the details that she did reveal about those things that happened to her.
