Lady Gaga is truly a wonder and is completely deserving of any and all praise she gets. The emotion she channels, especially in this performance, is unmatched and her vocals are obviously phenomenal. This is probably my favorite live vocal of all time and never fails to make me tear up just like the singer herself does here. She will go down in the books as one of the all-time greats.

If you look really carefully, there is no sign of real tears. I think it's for dramatic effect. Having said that, I've watched her do this extremely difficult song in many venues around the world. This performance is the performance of a lifetime. I would have given anything to be there for this one performance. She is at her pinnacle - flawless, and leaves me speechless, especially understanding who wrote this beautiful song, and how old he was when he did it. Billy Strayhorn at 17. Astonishing!

One of my favorite performances from Gaga of ALL time. ♥️ “Lush Life” is a tragically beautiful song. I wrote an essay about this song & specifically this performance from Gaga in a college music appreciation class. The genuine emotion…yet the control in her vocals…she nailed it. She is a TRUE virtuoso. 🎩🌹✨

Is there somewhere a better quality recording of this once in a lifetime phenomenal take? It's one of the best live performances I've ever seen. She is so totally engaged in every note and every word. The pianist breathes with her, and the strings arrangement written and performed so well... everything here is top notch. See the orchestra members clap at the end. Doesn't happen so often.By far the best cover of this great song.

This performance is from the Tony Bennett/Gaga tv special recorded at the Lincoln Center in New York in July 2014. If you search online for 'Cheek to Cheek concert dvd', you will get options to buy. If you make that search under 'videos', it is not inconceivable that you will find that a decent quality version of the concert has been uploaded to another well known video sharing site (I've said nothing, mind).

Billy Strayhorn's torchy classic usually is held lock and key by the likes of Johnny Hartman, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams and Sarah Vaughan in their interns, but Gaga's powerfully dramatic and lush version of LUSH LIFE is spellbinding and my personal favorite. It's a torch singer's wet dream of a song and Gaga milks it for all it's worth. Although her acting was superb in the film A STAR IS BORN, I was left rather disappointed in her song choices. THIS should have been in the film. It's a star-making song and a showstopper.

Billy Strayhorn was a genius. Gaga does it a great tribute. But then she would. And did.

I’ve watched this many times. Her belting is just suburb! I can sing most of this, but that belt around 2.15. I just can’t manage it. She is superb. Sorry just noticed the “suburb” instead of superb in the first reference. Probably nobody cares about the correction because you knew what I meant, but the perfection deserves the correction. I’ve had a tough couple of months and this video helps. Hence the late correction

Life I used to visit all the very gay places, Those come-what-may places, Where one relaxes on the axis, Of the wheel of life, To get the feel of life, From jazz and cocktails. The gals (girls) I knew had sad and sullen gray faces, With distingué traces, That used to be there. You could see where, They'd been washed away, By too many through the day. Twelve o'clock tales. Then you came along, With your siren song, To tempt me to madness. I thought for awhile, That your poignant smile, Was tinged with the sadness, Of a great love for me. I guess (Ah, yes, ) I was wrong. Again, I was wrong. Life is lonely again, And only last year everything seemed so sure. Now life is awful again. A troughful of hearts could only be a bore. A week in Paris might (will) ease the bite of it. All I care is to smile in spite of it. I'll forget you I will, While yet you are still, Burning inside my brain. Romance is mush, Stifling those who strive. I'll live a lush life, In some small dive. And there I'll be, While I rot with the rest, Of those whose lives are lonely, too.
