I admire any artist in any area of human expression who attempts to create something new. Credit is due there, However with Grime and other such music genres the over emphasis of "slagging off" anyone and everyone and or praising one's self to the highest, leaves me wondering why the youth often feel depressed. Even with the artists who seemingly present these lyrics in a playful way, the relentless put downs and negative judgements on people really fill me with a sad mood. So people will say. " It's only fun, it's not meant to taken to seriously" sure, but this genre is full of this type of sentiment and yes there maybe a few tracks that don't always use "put downs" and the artists over inflated self praises , but the majority do. Ummmm? For the future? I hope there's more creative voices out there that will break the mold and push on with a much deeper form of human expression.
