Lady Lynda (Al Jardine, Ron Altbach, Mike Love)

Mike Love of the Beach Boys introduces Ron Altbach, who describes how he worked with another Beach Boy, Al Jardine, to write and record one of their hits, 'Lady Lynda.' Scenes show Ron at the piano, Al in the studio and in concert, and ends with them in the control room of Brother Studios in Santa Monica.This is from a show I directed that was shot about 30 years ago.

Was with Al and Mike at several meditation courses in the 70s. They were charming gentlemen. Ron was a very dear friend and he is truly missed. Be with God, go in love.

I grew up hearing stories about Ronny Altbach, who happened to be the son of the doctor who delivered me into this world, (and every other kid in our little town). His playing with the Beach Boys was always an epic story in our neighborhood. I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Love a few years back and mentioned my story to him, he still speaks very highly Ron. Great video!!!!

I’ve alway thought that this song was special. I’ve always loved listening to Lady Linda. It’s one of the band’s best songs. Even if it doesn’t feature all the band’s members.This version seems to only feature Al. But it’s a good version none the less.

Surprising how a intro sets up a very fine song grabbing your attention. Works well on California Girls and even with such a thought provoking song like Until I Die the addition of the song own instrumental music at the start of the of the sound engineers remix just does the same.
