One or two negative comments suggesting Al is "drawn out" . Well he is going back almost 60 years ! I am pretty sure I will have to have thinking time to recall events of 60 years ago. If its too much for you , simply turn it off. I for one find it very interesting and also a privilege to listen to such an icon of pop music who has not been ravaged by drink and drugs.

Agreed! He had the best voice on That's Why God Made the Radio! Carl used to be the best vocalist. Brian was great in the 60s. Mike has slipped a bit. But Al is still fantastic! Possibly a better singer than he was in the 60s!

Al is sort of like the George Harrison of the Beach Boys, the quiet Beach Boy. He got overshadowed by Brian's genius, Mike's charisma, Carl's voice, Denny's sex appeal.

Saw Brian and Al and their great band at Newcastle upon Tyne England. 29th May 2016. They were excellent. Al's voice is still strong. A great show . I feel so lucky to have been there.

I saw the BBs in 1964 in Sacramento where they recorded their live album. They played two nights. I don't know whether or not the one I attended was the live album or that they may have taken songs from each of the performance. I've never heard any of the background of those concerts. One thing I remember was when Mike Love sang Monster Mash, they put a green light on him throughout the song. They sounded exactly like their records, which is kind of odd because it was The Wrecking Crew who played the instruments in their songs because the band wasn't deemed good enough to do the recordings. I think Brian was the only one who was allowed in the recording studio, if I'm remembering correctly. If you want to watch an interesting behind-the-scenes documentary, watch The Wrecking Crew movie. Not sure, but it may be on KZbin by now. Fascinating.

Whenever I see Al or Brian interviewed nowadays, there always seems to be a look of sadness in their eyes. It can't be easy talking about the 'early days' and the happy times when Dennis and Carl were there. Time goes so fast, but their sound will last forever. Thank you BBs for all the sounds you made!

We saw Al with family and friends at the Cerritos performing arts center on October 21, 2022. It was a great concert/performance by all - Al & Matt, Carnie and her husband, Wendy, don’t remember the names of the Bass, drums, and keyboard. They sang the Beach Boy classics and the daughters of Brian The venue was wonderful, great seats close to the stage. A happy memory, would do it again if we could

Al's comments about his influences could have been spoken word for word by me and thousands of others who grew up with the Trio back then. I met Al at a Dylan and Dylan concert (Mortensen, Thomas, Rosen) in Carmel about a year ago. Wonderful, funny, talented man.

When the Beach Boys first came out, my parents really liked the Kingston Trio and we kids heard their records a lot. I remember sitting by the record player in the living room listening to Beach Boys and my Mom walked by and said something like - "hey sound really good. They might become as big as the Kingston Trio, but maybe the Trio will be remembered as the better group in the long run." I had no idea that Al idolized the Trio until I saw this video. Very cool.

In high school, 1959-1965, I spent from '63- '65 daydreaming about playing jobs my brother and I had booked for the upcoming weekend, each week. These guys are great people. Timothy did a song on the Beach Boys release album, "Stars and Bars" or "Stars and Stripes" that had country singers doing the lead vocals. There is a video here showing some of those sessions with Willie Nelson, Lori Morgan ,etc. Nice mix! ( I think Stars and Bars was a Neil Young album. LOL )

Nice video, thanks for posting, brings back memories. Schmidt has talent and pipes, but can't Take it to the Limit the way Randy did. Wish Henley didn't become such a selfish old codger in his old age-he keeps taking down music by Randy, Bernie and Don Felder-we can't even listen to the famous Walsh-Felder Hotel Calif. guitar duo anymore. Greedy Henley forgets who the music is for, who paid for it, how much we enjoy the original Eagles tunes. The moron will probably order Walsh and Schmidt off his lawn next.

I should imagine they first met in the seventies when Eagles and The Beach Boys played concerts together. Later Timmy sang on The Beach Boys Stars & Stripes LP (and he sang with Brian Wilson on a TV concert in 1998 for Wilson's Imagination LP, although Al wasn't involved in that LP or TV special)

Oh, the bad words, is this a trigger for you? Yes, my opinion. I have more, after surfing and silly songs (CFG chords) and some excellent harmonies, they did squat. From the dune buggy to the beatles/stones/Jackson/ etc., they were lost, replacing band members. The. Holland Album is trash. So my opinion, and do not use foul language you looser.
