Oh wow the footage in this is beautiful. Knowing nothing of her, I'm super intrigued now.

This will sound melodramatic but it’s so weird being at the lake without her. I know she wasn’t on the water for years but she was still here you know? We could still see her on shore. I have so many memories tied to these planes: running down to the water the moment the engines fired up to watch them taxi and take off. Watching them land. One time one even came and scooped up water. Another time, one dumped water on us as he flew over our beach. Waving to the pilots from the boat. Anyway, I’ll miss her. Thank you for this fantastic tribute ❤

@@celticfire99 Not melodramatic at all! We feel the same way, and I know so many local and island residents share your sentiments. It’s been an emotional time, almost like losing a friend. I saw a comment on a post that made me emotional….the person said “it kind of feels like we are burying something that’s still very much alive. Every time I’m missing the rumble of her engines I will watch this video, and we really appreciate you watching it too. Cheers Erin and Greg

Well done Greg & Erin on the video. Sad to see her go. I just caught her as she was flying over the Beauforts on her way to Campbell River on her final flight

Thanks Todd! We are super sad to see her go too, so many people are. Glad you caught a glimpse of her. Thanks for watching, we’ve enjoyed sharing this tribute to an amazing aircraft. Cheers!

Very beautiful tribute to the most amazing flying boat. You two did an amazing job honouring the aircraft. We thank Hawaii and her sister Philippine for their many years of fire fighting and successful missions. There probably won’t ever be another plane with that kind of record of water drops and total successful missions. We also pay tribute to Hawaii and her sister Philippine along with her other sisters for their service in the United States Navy and for helping save many lives durning the war time and helping transport equipment.

Fantastic video of such an iconic aircraft. We can't remember a time that it wasn't on Sproat Lake. She put out a lot of fires and saved a lot of property and lives. Sad to see her leave the valley. She will be missed.

Shouldn't this video be called "Ladies" of the lake. ? ..We lived on Vancouver Island for many years and *always* saw 2 planes on sproat lake. ? ..there's only 1 now ??? ..what happened to the second plane ?
@steelparkeroutdoors2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. This one is called the Hawaii, the second one is the Philippine and she's still on land and will be heading to a museum in Arizona. The Hawaii is now in Victoria.
