I got so excited to see the yellow eggs on my struggling guelder-rose full of aphids! I saw a pair of ladybugs recently and just wondered if they could be a couple. Now those babies are going to save my tree feeding like crazy on the aphids!!!

Nice video. I’ve always know caterpillars become butterfly’s, but only recently found out ladybugs start out as something else; always thought they were just born that way until I noticed a bunch of them cocooning on the wall of a house.

a lot of insects go through this process of holometabolism (larvae, pupae, adult) but not all of them. praying mantises will just get larger and eventually gain wings, but moths, butterflies, regular flies, and beetles for example will go through a pupal stage

Not pictured: cannibalism. (Yes, sometimes ladybug larvae will eat the eggs that don't hatch quickly enough.)

One time I saw a ladybug and it only had 1 spot. It was on the left side. Usually the spots are symmetrical so what happened there?
@rosesrainbows30117 жыл бұрын
I once found a white one with no spots. Thought it was dead.

Mine doesn't have any spot at all, eventhough the pupa has some. Feel free to check my newly uploaded ladybug video. Thx.

Why are they in my house in FEBURARY?
@FressherJTD8 жыл бұрын
Same, they must be hiding from the cold because they hatch in spring and they live for about a year so...
