I was watching Gabby & Beau this afternoon with concern for her so she must have been on my mind while I was typing up the details to put in the video. Hoping that Gabby will be back to incubating her eggs and acting like her normal self soon. ♥

Interesting how the ear covert sits so low on the head and gets fully covered, emphasizing the eyesight as the dominant sense with hearing as secondary. Thanks LH!

You got an exceptional zoom in on E25’s left eye as well. That was a rather harsh peck this am, but there doesn’t appear to be much impact. I just missed this live, but there was that golden light. It really illuminated their features when the sun is at that particular angle. Makes features clearer. An Armored catfish- a new one to me. It seems almost plated like a skate. Catfish don’t look like that up north! Imagining one of those “catfish ticklers” sticking their arms and heads in mud near that creature- not me! M15 helps these chicks along in every way he knows. A very competent provider. He keeps a wonderful balance in their nest. I sense that it is inevitable that the rivalry will heat up a lot more in the next week. Having seen those European eagles with scarce food supply, I know it’s the plentiful food supply that will mitigate the outcome. E25 can take it…. And, as we have all seen, he can dish it out, too! He (she) is the cutest lil puff I ever felt so compelled to get behind. Reverse Imprinting? 🧐

Very interesting that while there is a female on the nest M15 has a much easier time flying fish back to the nest, while when Harriet went missing and there was no female on the nest, M constantly had females chase him back to the nest. Shows that Eagles generally speaking are very aware of and respect their fellow nesting Eagles, and in this case other Females seem to have a healthy respect for the mere presence of F23, To the point that they wont even try, and for the most part not even a fly by. Wow.

Y'all, E25 hatched and was holding his head up after 5 hours or so. It was throwing hands like an inmate early on, and most recently took food out of E24s beak! Just. Enjoy. The. Nest
