Oh MY GOODNESS! I couldn’t stop myself-oooo, LOOK AT THAT, as you featured one item after another! What a FABULOUS place! Many many years ago as my Mother had grown a little older she was on her own and did some caregiving of children in the Hunt family in the Dallas area. She had an appreciation of the beautiful things we all who follow you do and would mention from time to time some of the lovely things she had seen in the family’s home. I have NEVER experienced a consignment shop anything like this one-just FABULOUS!

Amazing to have a Hunt family connection. Bet they have museum pieces for everyday living. H.L. Hunt, the wildcatter and patriarch, inspired the J.R. Ewing character on the long-running TV series "Dallas."

Always great to hear from you, Mary Beth! Sadly, Waterford does not produce much in Ireland anymore. It's a competitive market and they have found artisans in Eastern Europe. One more reason to look for classic Waterford pieces on the secondary market.

Mary Beth, I see so many western movies that show blue and white dishes used for table settings and I also see displayed the same dishes in open China cabinets. I think they are Blue Willow. With all your knowledge could you please verify if my thoughts are true. I enjoy your videos so much and look forward to viewing a new one when posted. Thank you!
@LadyMaryBeth2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! You are probably correct about Blue Willow. In period pieces, the set decorators try and use authentic dishes to the era. But, they don't always get it right. Blue Willow has been around for centuries, so makes sense.

I have for years collected the oriental LLadro ladies through the travels and time. I also wonder if the small Wade sugar bowl from England is the same company that makes the Wade Whimsieys that I collect
@LadyMaryBeth2 жыл бұрын
Indeed, the figurines were manufactured by George Wade & Son Ltd, a British pottery firm that had begun life in Burslem, England in the nineteenth century. Iris Lenora Carryer, (daughter of George Albert Wade who helped run the family business), suggested that the company make figurines as promotional items for other retail businesses. Some of these were premium giveaways in boxes of tea.

As I was born and raised a stone’s throw from the Wordsley Red House Glass Cone, have ‘breezed over’ and, except for the chandelier and sconces at the Kennedy Center, have never paid much attention to Waterford Crystal. Have learned a lot from you and appreciate your enthusiasm and love for Waterford. What is the significance of the 14 cuts? Is it because the spacing of an odd number of cuts on either side is more difficult?
@LadyMaryBeth2 жыл бұрын
Still pondering the cuts. Not sure the number is significant, other than forming a pattern with straight cuts. Glad you love Waterford.

Hello, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and learn so much! I have a question and thought to ask you in the hope that you can give me more insight. I recently purchased a set of Franciscan Ivy tea cups, saucers, and plates. Initially, I was really excited to have acquired them, but I as I learned more about them on the internet I found some websites that cautioned against using them because of high lead content. I have been afraid to bring them inside the house. What are your thoughts on this? I know you enjoy buying vintage plates. Thank you and I look forward to reading your response!
@LadyMaryBeth2 жыл бұрын
This was our everyday pattern growing up and is sentimental to me. My grandmother also had Franciscan Ivy. There are no lingering effects we experienced. I would caution against using any crazed or chipped china. Metlox dishes from California are supposedly high in lead content. I think your Ivy is fine to use.
